BRICK was beat like a drum yesterday

He is still a young LT but he seems to have regressed from even last year, when he allowed 10 sacks and many, many pressures. Jason Taylor had his way yesterday and ate BRICK's lunch! Do any of you guys feel that we might be better off moving BRICK to OG for his athleticism? As a LT he is certinly not worth that high pick we gave up for him, IMO. What do you guys think? I was also unimpressed with Will Montgomery. He was OK -barely.

Your kidding right????

D'Brick owned aylor for the majority yesterday. he wasn't bad at all.Only one of the sacks was his failt, the other one Clemens held the ball way too damn long. Just cause Taylor had 2 sacks doesn't mean that he 'had his way' with him. Not only that but Brick also got good push in run-blocking yesterday. The guy is very steadily improving. Lay off for now.

Two things...I don't know if this is possible, (some guys just can't put weight on) but Brick needs to put on about 25 pounds in the offseason because whatever weight he put on during this past offseason was not enough. I think he probably put on 10 pounds and lost that all in mini camp and preseason...would love to know what he weighs now???

Secondly, while at the game yesterday, I was impressed with Clemens and this is coming from a guy who isn't a Kellen cheerleader. I think once this kid gets a handle on pocket presence and thus cut down on the amount of sacks, we may have something here...

Actually, I thought D-Brick played fairly well.

The first sack Clemens had time. got happy feet pressure came from his right he scrambled forward, right into Taylor.

His main problem is he is light. He would have to gainl 35 pounds to play guard. I like him as a LT

D'Brick has maybe been our best lineman this year and yes that does include Mangold. He still makes some mistakes but for the most part he is consistent. 2 sacks (1 not his fault) vs one of the best DE's in the league does not merit labelling him a bust. He is getting better and IMO will be a real force next year. I do agree that he should put on a little weight but that may hurt his pass-blocking which for the most part is really good. In run-blocking though it should help, having a half decent player beside him at LG couldn't hurt him either.

Yeah he let up 2 sacks to Taylor but he didn't play horribly throughout. In previous match-ups, D'Brick has held his own against Taylor so one good game from Taylor against D'Brick in four matchups does not worry me.

Let me get this straight: You have a tall, thin, athletic tackle. Stronger in pass protection than run blocking with questionable push at the point of attack and you want to move him to guard? Every tackle that gives up a sack is not better off at guard. I don't agree that he was beaten like a drum yesterday, but that's besides the point. Moving him to guard is silly.

Excellent analysis 27.

Agree on Clemens. He has to learn how to feel the pressure coming in the pocket.

Something like Brady is excellent at doing. It should come with experience.

Take the rose colored glasses off man. Ferguson was absued yesterday.

Clemens does hold onto the ball too long though. He reminds me a lot of Ken OBrien.

I third this- Clemens shows good potential and can actually give us a threat down the field- he needs to gain better recognition of the opposing defenses and the threat of blitzes though.

besides the fact the Jason Taylor is a legitimate pass rush demon, HOF caliber player

even the best the game get beat by great pass rushers, it happens all the time.

and besides the fact that the Jets won by almost 30 points

Brick is a 22 year old 2nd year man who has started every game of his career at LT. how can we question this player at this point?

brick was also the guy who escorted leon washington into the endzone on the shovel pass

He's just inconsistent. He will shut down his opponents for three weeks straight and then have an off game. He is VERY young, and I think will get much better. I think he makes a big jump up next year, especially if he can bulk up a little (I usually hate size and weight talk but for Brick it's true)

Exactly who cares about one meaningless sack by taylor. I dont even count the other one because taylor was lucky enough Kellen couldn't find anyone open and he tripped him up right at the line of scrimmage. Thats not Bricks fault. Besides taylor got mauled by Brick on running plays. He got pushed back like 10 yards on Leon's touchdown run. Some of you need some serious dose of football smarts.

Wasnt Taylor lined up against Clement for a lot of plays too? I thought Brick looked pretty good, but Clement looked much worse against Taylor.

They both suck. Jets desperately need to get a Left Guard and Right Tackle this off-season. Losing Kendall hurt Ferguson and Mangold and Clement isn't even mediocre.

Jets should also upgrade over Brandon Moore at RG though I can live with Moore as a starter more than Clement.

You and Bitonti are probably right on with your posts.

As far as football smarts are concerned, there are a lot of guys

on here who make a serious effort to understand football and make very

intelligent posts. It's one of the reasons I stay on here.

The problem occurs when certain people don't have the smarts to know

they don't have the football smarts.

Yea but its a annoying when any player on the Jets makes one mistake in the game and all of a sudden they get labeled a "bust" or "they suck cut them" its annoying but you take the good with the bad on sports messageboards theres always knuckleheads that think that way who won't admit their wrong when they most of the time are.
