How are you going to score batters, if they're not on base? And, considering they're practically equal in on base percantage and slugging percentage, yeah, I'd say Carlos, with his batting average 30 points higher, is better. With just offensive stats. And, they're about equal in fielding percentage. And, considering Gullien is on one leg, that's not that bad at all. (Gullien is .979 and Jeter is .975, just for the record.) I simply asked if you thought Guillen was having a better year than Jeter. Are you using the fact that hes hurt as the reason why he isnt? Or is he? Jeters been great since his rookie year. Carlos Guillen? how many ABs does he have this year, homer? Lets see Guillens stats the past few years. You gotta realize that. When we Yankee fans talk about Jeter being CLUTCH, its because he is always the guy to start rallys with a single or double to get the crowd going late in the game, or taking a walk on a 3-2 count with 2 outs and men on base. All these things come into play when judging the clutch factor. The only people that consider Jeter the best shortstop in baseball are blind Yankee homers. Would I prefer to have Jeter on the Cubs? Sure, but that's only because Neifi Perez sucks. If I were building a team from scratch, I would take over half the starting shortstops in the league over Jeter, as well as Hanley Ramirez. Rolen is starting as well. We know Beltran did not deserve the nod...same with Piazza. Beltran has been playing hurt and will turn his season around once fully healthy. No. The bottom line in this whole discussion is you questioning Jeters clutchness that we Yankee fans always talk about. Starting rallys, stealing bases, battling and fighting off pitches and taking the walk to extend the inning is all part of Jeters clutchness. He hasn't owned the playoffs like he did a few years ago, but I think that now he should prove once again why he's the modern day Mr.October. From 2001-2003 he was never healthy in the playoffs and his play really suffered big time.
