Nice article Garb.

I really do not think certain men will ever accept that a woman can be knowledgeable about football.

Yourself and the other ladies at jetnation show your knowledge of the game-even if we may disagree on players and teams.

The vile stereotyping of males in this disgraceful article is the lowest thing I have seen on this board yet. Must you females insist on ruining everything with your book knowledge? Is there no hetrosexual refuge from the supposedly fairer sex? Draw me a bath, clean my shirt and fetch me a brew, woman!

Well written, but seems like a ton of hostility towards men; and the one paragraph that seems to put some blame on women, turns it around to blame men again.

There also need to be a "stat nerd" category - the type, male of female, that will make your eyes glaze over with stats. Football is more than just stats, and its mental aspect is most times overlooked or minimized. JMO, of course. :)

Thanks folks! All credit goes to Tom Shane's editing brilliance, which saved my butt once again!

This piece was meant to give you all a chuckle - and perhaps some food for thought....

BTW, VanDoug, those stats are 100% accurate.

Look, we all know there are many knowledgeable females when it comes to football. The gripe that the guys are beating around the bush with (had to stick that phrase in) is that your article takes the position that these knowledgeable female football fans are the norm rather than the exception. Case in point, the "Gridiron Girlie" - most women don't express a differing opinion because most don't HAVE one.

Since football is a passion of yours, it is understandably difficult for you to except that you (and whichever friends of yours you are referring to) are the exception I speak of. The reality: most women know next to nothing about football. You do. Deal with it.

I dont doubt that some broads know a little about football.

My own wife who knew nothing about the sport when I first met her was able to predict every offensive play by the Jets last year.

The one thing we will NEVER see is a broad putting on the pads and coming out of the tunnel on gameday

My stance is this: Women know as much about football as I know about the peak of Kilamanjaro. Sure, I've heard about, seen pictures of it and if I wanted to, I could read alot of literature about it to become a faux-expert, but I'll never really know about the peak of Kilamanjaro until I climb up and see it for myself.I have the potential to do that. WOmen and football, they will always have one degree of separation from true football knowledge.

What about chicks who play in women's football leagues?

How about men who have never played football? Are they faux experts? And are women on par with them?

Garb, good job!

sometimes the sheer stupidity of men on this board astounds me. I guess men cant know anything about raising children because they dont give birth to them? I think there was a whole long thread on this topic so i won't start again... it is not like me to go off topic anyway!

Again, Awesome Job Garb!

Who's the more stupid: the stupid or those who follow them?

There are obvious exceptions to the general rule. This is what makes it a general rule and not an absolute rule. But the general rule still stands:

Most women know as much about the fine details of football as I know about the fine details of tampon insertion.

Pssh, please. :D

Says the same guy who thought the Jets draft hopes were doomed after trading the 26th pick. Says the same guy who thought the Packers would face the Jets in last season's super bowl. Says the same guy who thought the Eagles would beat the Pats. Says the same guy who thinks it would have been a swell idea to sign Freddie Mitchell. Says the same guy who thinks Chad Pennington is a great quarterback. Says the same guy who thinks Curtis Martin is anything more than a durable stat compiler. Says the same guy who thinks Herm Edwards is a top 10 HC.

Shall I continue?
