Jet/BosoxFan
Dirty Curtie, John Wayne reincarnated, is coming back to the Red Sox to save the struggling bullpen, the Achilles Heel of this otherwise unstaoppable team! Be afraid, Red Sox Haters! We have no more curse in our way, we have no more Yankees to worry about because they are old, tired and D-O-N-E, and now we have future Hall Of Famer Curt Schilling giving MORE of himself than he ever has. We dont need another starter...we obviously need a stopper, and who better to pitch in the biggest spot of the game than the filthy workhorse that is Curt Schilling! He recognizes his rehabbing has hit a snag, he'd like to work out the kinks and get a feeling for his fastball, and what better way to do it than to put HIMSELF in the pen? What an amazing athlete! Name one other future HOFer that would do this! Name one!!! I defy all of you!!! They dont even like to hit later on in the batting order when they are slumping! MUCH LESS would they go from atop the rotation to the bullpen!!!! Thank God Curt Schilling is on the Good Guys Team!!!!

shawn306
Just another leak in the dam. Here is the real reason why John Wayne Bobbit would go in the pen. He is STILL not in shape to go nine. He is still having ankle issues. He is trying to salvage a career that is heading downhill real fast.

Perhaps that's why Schilling has said HIMSELF he is not good enough to go nine, but is good enough to go 1 or 2. Schill in the bully. I like it. And say what you want yank fans, but this is just ANOTHER example of someone on this Red Sox team pulling for the greater good, pulling for the team. Whether it is Youk playing 3rd or 1st, Bellhorn going all over the place, Payton backing up Damon/Nixon/Ramirez, Millar willing to sit for Olerud, Wakefield, Arroyo or Wells saying they'll go to the bully if required. Good god even Renteria said last week he'd switch positions if Hanley Ramirez were to come up. This team is TIGHT. This team is showing such a common bond it is unheard of in todays "me me" type sports environment.

Jet/BosoxFan
John Smoltz No...Smoltz, a definate future HOFer was inneffective as a starter due to an injury, which ultimately casued him to miss an entire year. He was not the ace of the rotation in 2003 when he "opted" for bullpen service in ATL, he was basically told "go to the pen or youre outta here" As luck, and the best pitching coach in the game bar none, would have it, Smoltz was excellent in the 'pen closing out games. So excellent in fact, that he was welcomed back to the rotation this year. PLEASE...put some thought into this, dont just name the first closer you can think of that was a starter! I expect more from you guys. Though Smoltz is close...I swore you guys were gonna say "A-rod" first!

He has not been the ace this year. Nor last year. You mean to tell me he just came in and unseated Pedro last year? To me, Pedro was the ace the entire time he was in Boston. and Johnson was the ace when they were together in Arizona. So the last time Schilling was an ace would be Philly. Big Schill was the ace of our team last year...he killed himself in that role to bring us a championship ring...so he missed a few games this year trying to recover from offseason surgery. He is the ace of this team, he would be the ace of your team...and most others as well. Nobody in baseball is getting a bigger player in July via trade, salary dump, or return from the DL this year, much less a first place team. Bro, give it up and go away. This year is not your year! We should be grateful that he is gracing us with his nuggets about the greatness of Curt Schilling. Of course a guy who has failed miserably all year will now come out of the bullpen, overweight and out of shape and fire bb's. Just put the bats down boys. Mr. Bobbit is here. shawn306
Well here is offical word from MLB.com http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050706&content_id=1118164&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb BOSTON -- Red Sox manager Terry Francona said Wednesday on his weekly radio show that Curt Schilling will pitch out of the bullpen as he tries to come back from an ankle injury that has kept him on the disabled list most of the season. "For an inning or two, he might be one of the best in the game," Francona said on WEEI-AM. "For now, I think this is the way to get him back and impact our ballclub." Francona said the tentative schedule is for Schilling to pitch in relief for Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday and possibly one other time. If that's the case, Schilling wouldn't rejoin the Red Sox until after the All-Star break. Schilling had a less-than-satisfactory rehab start Monday night for Pawtucket when he allowed five runs in five innings. He said Tuesday that there were still "physical issues ... just some inconsistency there, velocity-wise." Schilling started the season on the disabled list after postseason ankle surgery and made just three starts. He was 1-2 with an 8.15 ERA before bruising his right ankle on April 23, which has kept him on the DL ever since. Should Schilling pass his bullpen tests with Pawtucket, he would give a boost to a Boston bullpen that currently is without closer Keith Foulke, who is having MRI exams on his knees. While not on the disabled list, Foulke's status for the immediate future is unknown.
Garb
Translation: We're in a bit of trouble. Foulke's going on the DL. Timlin is all we have and his arm to too old to handle the f/t closer load. Schill can't handle more than four innings right now. Lets see if this will work...let's hope this works. It will make everybody look sooooo good. My name is Theo and I refuse to give up any of the minor league prospects that will further propell me into the Pantheon of Boston Sports Heros. It seems as if the batting order of 2.Jeter 3.Sheff 4.ARod 5.Matsui and 6.Giambi are starting to live up to the billing of this years murderers row.
