Matt39
John Flaherty needs to be behind the plate for the rest of the season. He threw out more guys today than Posada has the last three seasons. We already know were not getting any offensivce production from our catchers anyway, might as well have some defense. He threw out 2 guys today, but he is still an average throwing catcher. Posada has a much better arm and bat, but Flaherty calls a way better game IMO Too bad we cant mix them toegether. We'd have the perfect catcher. Flaherty swings the bat like a woman whirls her purse in the air.

Green Jets & Ham
BIG DEAL ... should have been 1.5 So Torre can use Mariano today {for two innings}, right ... can use him in the 9th inning with a five run lead ... obviously because the ASB is upon us ... but he couldn't use him for one inning yesterday in an attempt to keep that deficit at ONE going into the bottom of the 9th? IMO we could have swept this series and entered the break at 1.5 ... so 2.5 does not excite me in the least

GimmeShelter
Randy still wasn't Randy but a win is a win. Yanks could have swept if the great Melky Way could play a little defense. George will be firing that AA coach who gave such a glowing assessment. Giambi is unbelievable right now. I bet he used up quite a few "Mulligans" for Yank fans. Nice win ...Thursday should be pretty exciting.

Barton
Melkyway sure looked hesitant out there. He's obviously got a good case of the butterflies when he's roaming centerfield in Yankee Stadium. He got a bad jump on that ball, it hit his glove, should have been caught, same with Matsui. The ball was REALLY traveling in the air today. Giambis monster shot, it would have been a home run anyways, but the air definetly kept it going even farther.

Matt39
Has the pitching been great during this stretch? Nope, not by any means. Like I have been saying all season the lineup was holding this team back. Now finally we have a set lineup with Giambi at first and Bernie/Rueben/Tino as the DH. The hitting has finally come around. We have to settle with the pitching that we have, which is average. But if we can continue to hit like this team was supposed to, we have a legit shot at winning the division. Garb
1) how exactly is Baltimore "reeling" when they just took the series from Boston? 2) nothing like an all-star break to kill momentum. The Sox need the time to re-group. 3) I hear Curt Schilling will be riding into Fenway on a White horse to SAVE (get it?) the day next weekend. haggis
You guys are great. Giambi was being run out of town along with Torre, and the rest of the team by you guys. You then hit a little hot streak and all of a sudden you're pounding your chests again. There's a long way to go. No-one fears the yankees anymore. D O G Giambi is back, and our lineup is SCARY with Giambi hitting. When they were talking about murderers row last year, this is what they expected from the team and from Giambi. Hopefully he continues his clutch hitting and this power trip because its fun to watch and good to see.
