Will Derrick Rose Be a Knick?

If there is one silver lining to this season for Knicks fans it's this: History has a funny way of repeating itself, especially when it involves Stephon Marbury.

In 2001, a year after Marbury left New Jersey, the Nets became the best team in the East and went on to go to back to back Finals appearances.

In 2004, a year after Marbury left Phoenix, the Suns became a powerhouse in the Western Conference and are now arguably the best team in the NBA.

Now here's the kicker..

In 2008, after Marbury leaves New York, the Knicks....

Now here's the deal, the previous two teams Marbury left not only got rid of his cancerous presence but replaced him with a great PG and floor leader. Nets with Kidd and Suns with Nash respectively.

Who will be that PG and floor leader who will turn the Knicks around? It could be Derrick Rose.

I know there's Beasley, Mayo and Eric Gordon. Gordon may very well be the best player in this year's draft. However, Rose is exactly what the Knicks need. A true floor leader who can run an offense and break down opposing defenses while setting up his teammates. Rose is also a lock-down defender and at 6-4, very physical for someone at his position.

So do us a favor Isiah (since we know Dolan will never fire you), let Marbury's contract expire out and draft Derrick Rose.

I'd love to have him.

Look at what Chris Paul is doing for the Hornets and Deron Williams for the Jazz.

Having a young franchise PG would be great.

He doesn't even have to be a superstar like Chris Paul. All Rose has to do is run the offense the right way - not the Marbury way (either hog the ball or just do one pass and leave the offense) or the Nate Robinson way (don't pass, just throw up wild shots and unforced turnovers in the 4th quarter) - and play defense.

Rose could do a good job setting up Crawford, Randolph and Lee and effectively guard his man. Knicks would be a much better team if that happened.
