Hey dickkotite, here is a school story for you

I try not to talk too much about school stuff on here...JN is one of my escapes from work.

Something happened today that I just wanted to share.

While en route to our school on the bus, one of our students attempted to stab another student with a hunting knife. According to the students who were on that bus, the girl had the knife hidden in a sock. Apparently she got into an argument with this other girl (they have a history of not liking each other) and she takes out the knife and goes after her with it.

Here is where things get weird. The girl with the knife had planned this, obviously. She had placed vasoline all over her face and hands.....for what reason I have no idea. So here we have a female student, covered in vasoline, attempting to stab another student on the bus.

And if that wasn't enough, today we had one of the meteorologists from tv as a guest speaker. So on top of keeping kids from murdering each other, dealing with the parents who were in the office screaming, we had to make sure our visitor was away from all that and made to feel somewhat welcome.

I am not a seasoned teacher, but I have already learned that in this job you must be prepared for everything. It is something I used to hear my mother say and other people who were in this profession, but now I am seeing it first hand and I must say that it is quite the experience.

Heelz, that's a ****ed up story. My dad was dean of security at one of the worst schools in the city. He'd confiscated knives, guns, machetes. You name it. Must like the rest of NYC, things got much better more recently. Hopefully that's not anything you ever see again.

follow up question. do the mods here get in a lot of knife fights? just askin ;)

I think they are called "sword" fights. Maybe they are tiny?

Yeah, I hope not to see something like that again, but I will remain vigilant about it.

Luckily for our visitor he had a good experience. Tonight at 6 he won't be talking about how the school presented him with a shank :)

update:

the 2 suspects (girl with the knife, her friend that knew about it) were taken away in handcuffs by the deputy. Looks like the girl might be charged with pre-meditation and the guy is accomplice..not sure about this 100% but that is what word from the administration is.

The girl has been totally expelled...not welcome back and she faces felony charges.

The accomplice (the guy who knew and then got rid of the knife) is suspended for 10 days...most of us here are not in agreement with this because the kid has been in trouble before, we know he is in a gang and he brings alot of that mentality to the school.

She deserves felony charges. Pre-meditated stuff is alot worse then spur of the moment. No way to cliam temp insanity.

we've learned alot about her in the last 24 hours...she had been absent a few days back in January, and come to find out she had been living in a gang house in Durham.

not our style, we have to have some gruesome ****. suicides, drunk accidents some of em get pretty good. ever seen what a semi does to someone at 45?

yeah I watched some old chinese person get run over by a big rig on canal street in the city. It looked like when you step on a ketchup packet where big streaks of ketchup shoot out like ropes, except it was blood and guts.
