UT,

Really like this mock. I noticed no Vilma trade? Any reasoning behind that?

If we can accomplish what you have in FA then you absolutely take BAP with pick 6 unless you get blown away with an offer.

That looks like a hell of a defense tho, with a great linebacking core and a very very solid secondary.

Also love the Marcus Monk pick. I think he could be a steal in round 4 should he fall

I'm really starting to think moving Vilma will be harder than we originally thought. If we can't get atleast a 3rd round pick in return for him, then we might as well just keep him and see if he can raise his game playing next to Harris.

Also, if we trade him, we need to find a replacement.

Not bad.

But I dont think we're going to go with Mcfadden, given the other options at the 6 spot (Gholston, Ellis, etc) and the possibility to trade down (Cowboys and Cheifs have both been rumored to be interested in a move). I also doubt we bring in Faneca for the amount of money and length of contract he'll ask for at his age(31).

Everything else I can see though.

And, just curious, why DJ Hackett?

My next mock will come after the combine.

Hmmm, interesting that you keep Vilma.

Not usre I'd go along with that. McFadden + Faneca could give us an absolutely awesome running attack but I'm still very worried about the D.

It's still incredibly undersized with Vilma, Ellis etc still there and the NT position still looks like a mjor problem (not that D-Rob would be better). Pace would rpovide some decent pass rush but nothing too major.

This FA class IMO does not comport with a reality that seems to be getting more stark every day for the Jets (and everybody else) as guys are signed and franchised. You have the Jets signing the (arguably) premier FA at three positions (G, OLB, WR). The Jets will be lucky to bag a FA class that includes one guy the average fan has even heard of let alone form an opinion about.

Wow. The ONLY move I agree with is Marcus Monk. Trading D-Rob for a 3rd is idiotic.

First thing that struck me was that Rubin and Benedict are two pretty big projects for rounds 2 & 3. Not bad if we strike gold in FA (as you predict) but we need starters and I don't think we're filling many holes in FA. I thought Gay already re-signed with the Pats.

He has Benedict starting at RT. I'd be very concerned with that TBH.

I don't think Gay has resigned yet just that the Pats expressed that they are interested in bringing him back.

I'd be happy with Rubin but unsure if he will be NFL ready right away, Having him and Pouha splitting at NT (the most important position in the 3-4) would concern me too.

Those free agent pickups are great though and not too unrealistic like people suggested.

I didn't even check his starting lineups, but it's quite a stretch to expect a guy from Newberry College to start on opening day.

You don't think the #1 G, OLB and FB along with a high level WR prospect AND a CB with starting experience on a super bowl team is a little bit far out there? If we get three guys of that caliber I'd be shocked.

Well it is and it isn't.

The only one who'll be seeking elite (or that will at least get) elite type money from that group is Faneca.

Kreider is old and is a fullback, doubt he'd be too expensive. Hackett is a #3 WR (A good one) and would get #3 money IMO.

I doubt Gay will come, exclude him from the group IMO because I'm sure he'll stay with the Pats.

Faneca is old and he's a guard, what's your point? FB is basically meaningless to me anyway. As for DJ Hackett, what is good #3 money? Drew Bennett got 6 for $30M with about $7.5 down. Little newsflash, everybody is seeking elite money. Even guys that suck want to maximize their earnings. They aren't going to take less just because they aren't as good as the top guys. When everybody else is franchised and 15 teams are vying for their services the price goes "up, up, up, up, up". (Anybody know what song I'm quoting?-In the song it's not the price, but the crime rate)

You siad it, 'FB is basically meaningless'. It's not a position which can request a lot of money IMO, unlike Faneca at LG (who at 30 is not that old for a guard).

I agree that everyone is seeking elite money but not everyone will get it. Drew Bennett is a totally different situation because the year before he had been playing first string WR for the Titans and had a great year there once. Also the Rams were unsure about Isaac Bruce's future IIRC. Hackett is not in the same situation.

We have plenty of cap room too BTW.
