RUMOR on NJ.com- 3 way trade - Rodgers, Drob, Foxworth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saw this on NJ.com jets forum. Waiting for posted to come back with what radio station is reporting.

"The deal is done with Detroit and Denver, but the Jets are included. The Broncos are sending Foxworth and a 2nd to the Lions, the Jets are sending Robertson and a 5th to the Broncos, and Lions are sending Rogers to the Jets! The deal will be annouced tomorow!!! I just heard this on a local sports radio show! "

Great find if true.

Good deal all around. Except for Denver who is trading a 2nd round pick and their #3 corner for DRob and a 5th. And then DRob will need a mega-contract or he'll never agree to tearing up the $9.8M he's scheduled to get this season. Ewww.

They sure do love other teams' busts out there, only seeing the upside of a player's talent from when they were drafted.

I like it for us. Personally I think DRob should have more trade value than Rogers, but then DRob needs a new contract immediately & Rogers doesn't.

Why would we give up the 5th?

Rogers for Robertson, yes

Yeah, that's what I was saying. It must be DRob's contract plummeting his trade value. Otherwise on paper he's 26 years old with 5 years of NFL experience as a full-time starter, rarely gets hurt, is the consummate team player (not a peep out of him playing out of position for 2 years), and does have talent. But he'd be a $10M cap hit in 2008 alone for anyone who trades for him. He needs a new contract & Rogers doesn't. That's got to be it.

But if we were just going to take a Jason Pociask type anyway, then does it really matter in the end? Still clears $5M on the cap give-or-take and removes one of the hardest holes to fill: a NT with size for the 3-4.

No trades until Friday, so the "tomorrow" part sounds fishy.

The Troy Williamson trade has been announced, so maybe it just wouldnt be official until Friday, but announced tomorrow.

I'm not sure myself, being unfamiliar with the NFL's policy regarding trades prior to the FA period.

I just want to know why the Bronco's and the Lions are getting two things each (Player & Pick) and the Jets are only getting one in Rodgers?? can someone help me understand this deal a little bit more please.

We are getting two things..We are getting Rogers and we are getting rid of Drob's salary..It's kind of like an addition by subtraction, so technically speaking, we have two plusses.

Oh I see now ,Thanks BJ12 .That makes more sense now ,for a second I thought we got ripped off by the Lions for christ sakes LOL.

The day millen rips someone off is the day schlegal becomes an allworld mlb. Kidding aside, getting rid of Drobs salary is actually a huge burden off of our shoulders and honeslty worth not getting a 5th round pick in my mind.

Sounds to me like someone is spanking the monkey.

Not a word anywhere else except this message board.

Wold be great, but I doubt it. Not to mention that a trade can't be done until friday

NFLDC had it and it's been talked about quite a bit, but I refuse to beleive anything anymore until it is made official by nfl.com or the teams official website.

If this is true this is absolutely great news. An undersized, over-paid 34 Nose Tackle and a 5th round pick for a guy who can actually play in the 34 as a Nose Tackle? A lot of our problems on defense are solved if this is true and does indeed happen tomorrow. Great, great news. Finally, a true 34 Nose Tackle.

Like I said before I think it's too good to be true.

It would make too much sense for the New York Jets to make a move like this.
