I know it is only feb. but has anyone thought about vacations for this year yet????

I really would love to get away but am not sure where we should go with the kids. There is always N.C that we love or Disney which the kids love but I really would love to explore some place new with them. Any suggestions that are fun for kids and relaxing for max and I????

Where are you all heading to?8-):vactiontime:

Going to Vegas with the wife and NO KIDS for work/vacation in April. Then we'll probably go back to the cabin in Colorado a month or so after that. That will proably be about it unless we go down to Oklahoma City to catch the Foo Fighters concert.

I literally just booked a trip to the Dominican Republic for spring break...March 14-20. I never did it when I was in college, and now that I'm single, I figure it would be a good time to "test the warmer waters" of the D.R.

Nice! the D.R. kicks ass!

JFBM: You folks are slacking up there. :)

2 weeks down in Myrtle. Starting July 5th.

My wife booked that the day after New Years.

Well, when is Mrs shawn306 signing up for an account here at JN to help Mrs. Max with her vacation?

There's a garage door convention in Vegas?

My kids are going to Prague on a chorus trip in July. The wife and I are thinking about going to Toronto to catch a Yanks game and see a few other things while they're gone.

We'll probably try to fit in a camping weekend or two, as well.

My wife and I did that a couple of years ago. Esteban Loiza pitched. :bag:

Should be hitting Barcelona for a couple of days in March and hopefully a long weekend in Paris in May. Fingers crossed. If I can pull that off AND still get home in July/August I'll be psyched.

How about a Disney cruise?

There's island hopping/shopping/on-board spas for you, Disney-related fun for the kids, and all-you-can-eat buffets for Max.

You're welcome. :)

Lets see -- just got back from a 5 day cruise on Carnival to Progresso and Cozumel - got sunburn but drank lots and lots but lost a little on Gambling -- Heading to San Antonio in a few weeks for a weekend getaway to celebrate the wifes 51st -- In June rented a cottage on Lake Ontario for a week (going there for a wedding )-- great deal only 400 bucks -- and will spend a few days up on Long Island in August to catch one last game at Shea other than that...

Have been on 2 Disney Cruises one 3 day and a 7 day one -- THis was without a doubt the best family vacation money can buy -- you are treated like royalty from the minute step on the ship until the time you get off -- Its pricy but the Mouse dont skimp

from a kids/parents POV, we always liked the Washington DC vacation with Smithsonian, other DC sites FBI, Fords Theater etc..we would throw in a Kings Dominion, hour or so south of DC, or Busch Gardens if we did the Williamsburg thing also.. this helped offset the history etc..would spend all day in both amusment and water park section,,

The Caverns are very near also and Mount Vernon is very cool...

also, we went to a Mountain Resort in NC mountains that kids loved,,horse back riding, water rapids rafyting etc..we got a cabin and it was cool,,,

Agreed. We did that two years ago. My sister lives near Virginia Beach, so we did a day at the beach, then a day at Busch Gardens, then went up to Washington. Senator Clinton's office set us up with tours of the Capitol and the White House (your senator or congressman can do the same), we toured a couple of the Smithsonian museums, spent an entire day at the National Zoo, then spent the last day on a trolley tour of all the monuments and Arlington Cemetery. I wish we had had three more days to spend there. A great trip. I had been to D.C. a few times before, but my kids never had.

Yes, it's cool. Senator Barbara Mikulski was in the tram car in front of us. I think I was the only one in the tour group who recognized her.

A tip for those who vacation in DC - get a hotel near a Metro stop. We parked the car when we got to the hotel and never moved it until it was time to go home. The Metro takes you everywhere you need to go without worrying about traffic, wrong turns or parking.

I agree, the metro is an excelent mode of trans in dc. can't say enough good things about a family trip to dc.
