Pats' Moss listening to other offers

By John Clayton

ESPN.com

The New England Patriots and Randy Moss aren't close to a deal and Moss is starting to listen to offers from other teams, according to a source.

Moss, who wasn't franchised by the Patriots, became a free agent after midnight Thursday. Though talks continue with the Patriots, the numbers aren't close enough for him to close his ears to other opportunities.

To facilitate a trade for the Patriots last spring, Moss took a $7 million paycut -- from $10 million to $3 million -- but shortened his contract to one year. The Patriots had the option of franchising him but decided to work out a contract with him.

As a free agent, Moss is available to the highest bidder. He would like to stay in New England with Tom Brady, but he could be available for the right offer. It is not known how many teams and which teams contacted him.

It's starting to look like the Patriots and Moss used eachother.

Yes it is, but the Patriots would be stupid to let him go. Wes Welker is not going to be as productive if he's the entire offense. Teams will take him out.

What did Bill and Scot think? Randy was going to be a "team guy" and take less money to stay part of the "Patriots Family"..To that ,I reply...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Franchise Mr. Moss and you will have one disgruntled, a-hole on your squad, who will be a cancer of epic proportions in 2008-09. Or pay the man as the top receiver in the NFL and kill your cap which you allowed him to become with Tom Terrific at QB.

This Jet Nation is the classic CATCH 22!!

There is pretty much no chance that they will both play for the Cowboys. Same thing goes for the Panthers. Two WRs like that simpy cannot coexist.

As much as I want him, I don't think he'll be happy here.

Ya think? Mangini's pet peeve is players talking to the media and Moss loves to air dirty laundry. Telling reporters straight up he hates the coach, smokes weed, doesn't play hard every down etc.

If the Jets signed Randy Moss this season I am willing to bet money him and Mangini would be feuding by week 8.
