Thai Jet
The NY Jets, in a away, screwed the Buffalo Bills out of trading for Jacksonville's DT Marcus Stroud. The Bills, who cut DT Larry Tripplet, were entertaining Stroud today. When Stroud, who has 3 yrs. left on a $16.5 million dollar contract, learned the Jets had given Kris Jenkins a new 5 yr. $35 mil deal , he demanded a new contract from the Bills if he's dealt there. Their response? Typical ills, "Adios Mr. Stroud , visit over. " This leaves the Bills with only 2 DT currently on their roster Kyle Williams and backup John McCargo. Thai Jet
The Bills insider is reporting that the Ills have signed DT Spencer Johnson from the Vikings. The somewhat undersized at 6'3" 286 Johnson can play all for DL positions according to the Bills.

#27TheDominator
I think it's bad news. That means any potential DRob suitors can also deal for Stroud.

Sperm Edwards
I think we should have went after stroud. Isn't he a little more healthier then Jenkins? They're different players. Stroud would be a DE here. Jenkins is probably 50 lbs heavier than Stroud despite being 2 inches shorter. No; Jenkins was the pick. Stroud would be solid at DE, but I think there are enough guys in this draft that we can convert a college DT who fits the mold & have him play behind or split with Ellis. Then Ellis gets moved next year. To me, THAT is how to plan to use the draft. Find a player who you DON'T need to step in this year, but who you think could/should be able to step in as starter a year later. Except first-rounders; I think it's reasonable to expect (non-QB's at least) to start from day one. Now sometimes guys will be total busts & never pan out. But then you didn't leave yourself in a desperate situation. And sometimes they'll surprise you for the better, creating a surplus at a position & allowing you to trade away the veteran for value. JonEJet
Yes We are OVERPAYING because of the need, rather than jumping into free agency and paying money wisely Look at tuna...Smiley 5 years $25 mill....fair deal
Sperm Edwards
Yes We are OVERPAYING because of the need, rather than jumping into free agency and paying money wisely Look at tuna...Smiley 5 years $25 mill....fair deal Smiley ruptured his shoulder capsule 4 months ago. He may never again get the same push he once had. Otherwise Smiley would be looking at $2M+/yr more. Further, Florida teams can bid less for the same player & the player makes the same money b/c there's no state income tax there. In NJ, it would be around 9%. Jetscode1
Dude There is only 1 guard in the NFL worth that kind of coin, and that is Hutch We are grossly overpaying a player for a need That is horrible team management There we plenty of people who scoffed at Hutchinson deal when it went down saying they overpayed. The Steinbach and Dockery deals last year confirm the now going rate for interior offensive lineman. This is not overpaying but even if we agreed that it is its still makes sense for the JETS because he instantly adds credibility to the OL plus get a multiple Pro Bowl veteran to help with Mangold and DBrick's development. The deal makes too much sense for the JETS. Not saying the FO didn't mismange the Kendall deal last year. But would you really prefer Kendall over Faneca? I just hope we get the Faneca deal done. JonEJet
Faneca makes our team better But we're about to sign a guy to the richest contract for a lineman in NFL history Is Faneca the best lineman in the game? He's not even the best guard
Jetscode1
Faneca makes our team better But we're about to sign a guy to the richest contract for a lineman in NFL history Is Faneca the best lineman in the game? He's not even the best guard The contract doesn't make him the best lineman in NFL but in two years or less he will not be the highest payed lineman in the NFL. The question for me is does he makes our OL and specifically Mangold and Dbrick better? If he does and the JETS make a long run in the playoffs because of a strong OL then he will have earned his money.

Anybody that has ANY thought of Justin Miller being able to start at the corner is friggin crazy-that guy is terrible, in fact if it weren't for his KOR ability he would already be out of the league-I wonder if we can re-coup the 5th rounder we gave up for Jenkins by moving him to a team that needs a kickoff returner

I much rather see him spend it on players that aren't current Jets Dom-giving big new contracts to the likes of Bryan Thomas and then watching the guy turn into barely JAG hasn't been working. Even Kerry Rhodes-I say don't worry about re-upping his contract, sometimes it's better to let a player stew as a franchised player for a year to light a fire under his ass-maybe he won't take half the year off worrying about making movies and instead play with reckless abandon to try and EARN an even bigger payday

Sometimes guys take it a little easier so they don't get hurt before their contract year and they won't push themselves for a team they think is screwing them. Particularly once they are franchised.
