I'm not liking the way this is going... By the way, how could you know Garb's "belief system"? (I'm asking that honestly, so if you actually know I suppose what you're saying could apply.) That third sentence leads to a much bigger argument, as it's pretty obvious this is going to turn into a religious argument. You obviously don't worship that god as strongly as others, if at all, but I don't see why it's a bad thing in and of itself. Some might consider it all immoral, but in the long run it's not going to affect the industry as people will buy the stuff for their own private viewing pleasure. I could go either way on this, but I'd just like to point out one thing. The onus of the immorality portrayed on the adult film industry comes not directly from religion, but rather from society. As this stuff is mostly a taboo subject in society, it's thought of as immoral along a rigid set of rules. Religion does have an impact on this I am sure, but it's not the only thing that causes that reaction. On the outside it might be considered very immoral, yet the vast majority will still secretly watch porn. One of modern society's norms that many are hesitant or unwilling to break out of, I'm not saying whether it's good or bad though. My religious beliefs are more spiritual than organized. But that is neither here nor there. I also don't find all pornography distasteful. What I find troublesome is the woman as an object - and sometimes worse.... and then calling her a skank. You need look no further than the youtube thread that Vinny posted to see what I mean. And no, that butt move youtube video is not pornography, per se, but the attitudes some display are what I'm talking about. Calling her stupid, a skank and whatever other negative things were said. Is she a skank? I have no idea. She's obviously someone that uses her "talents" to get attention and she obviously likes the attention. Would I want my niece to do something like that? Nope, I would kick her azz. That has nothing to do with religion, it has everything to do with self-respect. That's the thing. Pornography sure as heck doesn't promote respect, now does it?
