K Coleman at DE?

Recommended Posts

I have to ask the question is he the guy we want at DE (solid back up) or could we find a better fit with someone else through the draft or free agent?

He was probably our best defensive lineman last season, which is good because I think he is being paid like it as well. I don't see an upgrade necessary but you would like to see a 3-4 DE drafted to push him and Ellis for time.

he should be set for next year. having jenkins next to him should be a different but stronger trio. just be nice to get someone in there for ellis, prefferably someone abit stronger and a bigger pressence

I'm really hoping that ellis will come back to form. Especially if get get ghoulston, I'd cream my pants if Long falls to us though.

I think the Jets should spend a high round pick on a DE to rotate with and eventually replace Ellis. If the Jets have signed Woody then I would like to see the Jets use the second round pick for DE (Moore being my favorite of the guys likely to be there). This opinion probably changes if Hardy somehow falls to #36.

Coleman and Jenkins are good to go.

I'm starting to see mock drafts that have G. Dorsey falling past #5. If that happens, would it be a good idea for the Jets to draft him as a DE? I didn't see him play much, but from what I've read, he sounds like a great pick for us.

He should be fine next to Jenkins.

Ellis is probably a goner next off-season though. He'd be gone already if it wasn't for his cap hit.

Agreed. 6'5/300-lb-ish DT's to move to DE are available every year in every draft. And they don't need 4.8 40-times. We'll probably take a shot at one in the 4th/5th round this year. Otherwise it'll be one of our day-one picks next year. Unless Ellis bounces back (a distinct possibility with Jenkins there), in which case we just stay the course & let Ellis play out his contract through 2010.

I think this spot is a priority for the Jets. Best to get a guy now to rotate into the lineup and be ready to step in for Ellis in 2009/2010.

OLB is still top priority, second is CB and WR, then IMO is DE (I view Ellis as a weaker link than Barton).
