Green DNA
My father just bought a new laptop with the Vista O/S and cannot get his HP printer to work. It keeps looking for the driver and never finds it. I went to the HP website and they claim that the driver is already in Vista. I spent a couple fo hours screwing around with this thing yesterday and wanted to punch a hole in the wall by the time I was done. Has anyone had a similar issue? Also, I installed AVG anti-virus on the machine and the CPU and memory usage is always around 50%!! That is nuts. Not a huge issue, because all my dad does is surf the web, but it just seems like something is wrong.
rillo
Did a quick google search on "Hp printer with vista", seems to be a problem with drivers and support for Vista.

I installed it on my dad's computer and the thing runs terribly slowly. Maybe I'll try something different.
Gainzo
Your note on AVG interests me. I installed it on my dad's computer and the thing runs terribly slowly. Maybe I'll try something different. I have used AVG for nearly 2 years and have never had a problem with it. IMO Symantec and McAfee are much bigger memory hogs than AVG. Note: I have a desktop with Vista and AVG does run a little slow. No problem on my laptop running XP.
Green DNA
I'm going pick up the laptop tonight and try hooking up a different printer to see if it is just an HP problem (and there is an HP problem) I am also going to play around with the virus and spam programs to get the CPU and memory usage down
