Barton
He needs to step up to the plate and call his shot. Name Clemens the starter right now, or draft Matt Ryan at #6 if they love him so much. Going with a Chad vs Clemens competition in camp is a completely gutless move. This team goes nowhere if that happens.

I SURE HOPE SO, HE'S FROM TEXAS AND THE LAST RECIEVER FROM TEXAS WAS PRETTY GOOD ALSO....Does Roy Williams ring a bell:p:character0282:.....if not we can trade up as usual. hes a big WR? not terrably fast but we need WR especially a young one, because im sick and tired of projects like brad smith, and justin mcdroppins and bitchy coles:box:

Who cares where Quinn was drafted last year he's better than any QB on our roster. Tom Brady was like the 1,078th pick in the 2000 draft. I guess you wouldn't trade the 6 pick for him either. DieHardJetsFan
Drafting Gholston @ #6 in the first round and then drafting Limas Swead @ #5 in the 2nd round would be an amazing first day. --------------------Jericho Cotchery, Limas Swead, Laveranues Coles------------- ----------------------Ferguson, Faneca, Mangold, Moore, Woody--------------------- ------------------------------------Kellen Clemens-------------------------------------- -----------------------------Thomas Jones, Leon Washington-------------------------- Thats an exciting Offense with Speed and toughness with a solid mix of young athletes in Ferguson, Mangold, Moore, Cotchery, Swead and Leon Washington along with Veterans such as Coles, Faneca, Woody, and Thomas Jones And Gholston @ #6 would give us a strong front 7 with Ellis, Jenkins, Gholston, Barton, Harris, Pace and Coleman with Revis and Rhodes in the secondary. The Browns are not going to tie up all that cap room in the QB position for long. Eventually one of those players is going to be traded. Maybe not this off-season but sometime soon. Just a matter of someone making the right offer.

KudosForND
Any chance Swead call fall to the 5th pick in the 2nd round? Never will fall that far only because one team the titans.. Vince Young's favorite target in college and the reason vince was so dominate in college. You kno if he is on the board they are gonna take him. Mario Manningham should be on the board and after his combine he might be on the board inn the 3rd round even tho we dont got a 3rd rounder anymore

I'm not saying Clemens is the best, however I haven't seen enough of him to decide. Clemens could've easily won more games if players will catch the ball. Before the bye week the defense was giving up games IMO. All i'm saying is give Clemens a training camp and a retooled Oline (which we are doing) then decide. Boozer76
With all the moves we just made you guys are out of your mind if you think they will let an unproven rookie/2nd year player with no experience suddenly man the hlm. There isn't a chance in hell of drafting Ryan or trading for Quinn. It would be a collosal waste of alot of money to do so. The coaching staff seems to like Kellen alot, and quite frankly I take their opinion on it far more than anyone here or even my own. What we saw in game action last year is likely not what the overall picture for Mangini and Schott. They saw him practice, they sit in the film room and test him on proper reads, progressions, checkdowns and so on. I think they trust him and essentially are willing to go with him. If he sucks horribly all the sudden this year then they do have a fairly safe fallback option in Chad. I don't expect Clemens will have a very long rope, but make no mistake he's the guy to start next year.

The point he's trying to make is that there isn't a great or even very good QB on the roster. This is a win-now team. Right now we don't have a QB on the roster that can win a Super Bowl. I'd like to see something done about the QB situation other than "let's give this Clemens kid a chance" especially when he hasn't looked good so far. shawn306
I don't neccesarrily think it is a "Super Bowl or Bust" season for Mangini but I do think that with the moves they have made that they do need to make the playoffs this season. IMHO: Clemens has had two years now and 8-9 games to get used to the NFL. It is sink or swim time for him. I still think that this whole "Open Competition" is nothing more than a smokescreen to up Pennington's trade value for a draft day deal. We aren't getting a first but if the Jets play their cards right they could end up with a lower third or maybe a 4th. I would be shocked if Pennington is the starter on opening day. So you want to go ahead and take Quinn or Ryan-both rather pedestrian at best compared to QB's drafted in the past (Not to mention they both have Chad-like weak arms). Here's a newsflash-Had Clemens not broken his ankle hjis senior season at Oregon he would have been a much higher rated prospect than both Quinn and Ryan. Quinn and Ryan have just as many question marks as Clemens. Furthermore, Clemens has some experience. Granted most of it was running for his life, at least he has seen and shown some flashes at real NFL game speed. On top of that, 5 of Clemens INT's were the result of a receiver dropping a sure TD, WR slipping and falling, Hail Mary's, and desperation at the end of a game where you have to make a risky throw. You just don't like the guy because he isn't 6'6" and we all know it. Be damned what he's ever done on the field, he's short.

I agree with you. It's foolish for any Jets fan to Judge Kellen Clemens on last years performance. Not only was Kellen thrown into the fire, but he was thrown into the fire with an O-Line that had Montgomery at LG and Clement as the starting RT I honestly believe this is the year to judge Kellen Clemens. -Another year under Mangini, while working with Schottenheimer -A full offseason to build chemestry with his starters (TC and Preseason) -3rd year player, 2nd year starter (He was basically a rookie last year) -7 Time Pro Bowler in Alan Faneca as the starting LG (In replace of Montgomery) -A player who started on the Patriots 2001 SB winning team in Woody at RT (In replace of Clement) And lets not forget Thomas Jones will now be in his 2nd year as the Jets starting running back It would be insane to Judge Kellen under last years "Team"
