lawngnome o-line
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3278105 Quotable quote of the article: "You pay guys you don't even know, and the guys in the locker room -- the guys that have your back -- you don't give a damn about them," an anonymous player told The New York Daily News. "It shows where the loyalty is." For some reason I smell Coles being a part of this. Honestly from this quote this sounds like a selfish player who is looking to make a payday. But do I need to remind this anonymous Jet player that they were 4-12 last season, almost unbearable to watch at times, and the "guys we don't even know" are guys that are coming in to try and answer questions and fill in holes on the team, that his fellow teammates couldn't answer themselves. If anything be happy that the FO is doing something to make the team better
PeterNorth09
I don't buy this criticism at all. So the Jets should be forking out bails of liquid cash to the scrubs who are currently on the team just because we know them? That's stupid.
BP
This is the last remnants of the Herm era. good riddance. Coles has always been a cry baby, here and with the Redskins. let him go and lets move forward.

lawngnome o-line
"They're getting rid of the young guys and bringing in old guys - I don't know what they're doing." - Another great quote if this is the same Jet in reference to the Vilma trade. Personally I liked Vilma and thought he was a play maker in the 4-3, but he was ineffective in the 3-4, Vilma was in his last year of his contract and was hurt for the most part of the year. Sure, I'm upset he's gone because he's a potential star but not in our system. If bringing in old guys such as 31 year old and 8 time pro bowler Alan Faneca is a problem, then please I'd love to see whoever this Jet player to come out and say it. Since apparently he doesn't have alot of balls to be hiding behind a Daily News reporter
Gibbon
Since when does Coles do anything anonymously? I doubt it was him. He usually puts his name on these things. However, he's hardly a scrub. He can still play and is as tough as they come. He has, for the most part, kept his attitude in check - I know there have been some comments -- during the Mangini era. Bottom line is whoever said it is pissed and needs to go to keep from becoming a locker room cancer -- no matter how legitimate their point is. BP
agreed. Who would take him and what do you think we could get for him? Herm would be interested. but he does have Bowe now, and that might curb his enthusiasm. we might shop him on draft day for some kind of package, or to move up. but he has to be gone before mini camp in May. I would much rather find a way to keep Coles happy as a Jet But... If we were to trade Coles AND Chad Pennington (Who can be a solid backup QB) Do you think we could get a late #1 in the draft? If so, we would draft the best WR on the board to play alongside Cotchery (I would much rather find a way to keep Coles happy)

Maybe if they won some ****ing games they mightn't be getting replaced. Put up or shut up, simple as that!!! Whoever this is (my guess is Coles) I want them out. gangreenman
You dont hear Shockey crying and whining over the contract he signed do you????? No, but I do hear him crying and whining about the coaches and QB when he doesnt have enough plays go his way in a win. I also see him cheery and happy on the rare occasion when he has 10 catches for 2 TD's in a loss. I dont know about you, but Id almost rather have players complaining about their contracts then players pulling the crap that he does during the season. Also, dont think its just a complete coincidence that the Giants were able to step it up after he went down with the injury.

SoFlaJets
Herm would be interested. but he does have Bowe now, and that might curb his enthusiasm. we might shop him on draft day for some kind of package, or to move up. but he has to be gone before mini camp in May. they released Eddie Kennison BP and they still need another receiver to play opposite Bowe. I still think that Max's trade scenario of Chad and Coles to KC is still a very real possibility and I'd be right on board with it
SeniorFlaJet
I can't believe that type of moaning doesn't happen on every other team that signs a FA for more money than almost anyone else on the team. It also mirrors sociiety as a whole when people find out that someone in the office is making more than they are. Why should football players be any different. And what's going to happen when the 6th round pick who ever that may be gets more money than any of the other FA they just signed.
serphnx
Even if it wans't Coles, he deserves the assumption that it is him and he should take the heat as if it is him. That's just what you deserve after whining earlier on. As far as I'm concerned, it's Coles, and if he doesn't like it too bad, he can try and clear his name. awats
I sincerely hope it wasn't Rhodes that said that, or Baker... I would be thoroughly shocked to find out that the anonymous player was Kerry Rhodes. He's too much of a gentleman and team player to say anything disruptive. Sounds like Coles, but Coles usually doesn't hide behind the cloak and dagger. I also agree with those who say we should cut Coles. He's only a concussion away from ending his career and even though he actually performs very well when he's happy; He's poison when he thinks he should get something for what he's already been paid for. Arsis
The reason Coles would hide behind the condition of anonymity is because if he really said this it would make him look like the bad guy and the guy who is only after money. So he goes to the media and says this and know when he is looking for more money he can try to use this as leverage against the club. Coles is a selfish greedy bastard whom I've never liked. The 4 and 12 record has absolutely nothing to do with how much a player is worth to a franchise. Players are paid for what the HC and FA deems they can positively contribute to a winning season.
