johnny green balls
i think we'd keep all 3 for '08 but we'd try to move TJ after that (although i'm no cap expert)
PeterNorth09
Stupid Thomas Jones trade makes it almost impossible to draft McFadden.

johnny green balls
Option 4:Move DMC to Dallas and let him waist their cap space that is the ideal solution, i agree. but if we really see something special in the kid do we show one of the other guys the door? Irish Jet
Thomas Jones and it's not close. That's in terms of ability, not really sure what impact the cap would have. My guess is a alot to the point where cutting TJ would be useless.
DieHardJetsFan
We keep all three. We rush Thomas Jones behind Mangold and Faneca a good 12-15 times per game, ware down the Defense, and pound that rock Then rush McFadden a good 7-10 times per game and watch him run right by the opposing teams front 7 and attack the secondary with gains of 15+ with fresh legs, explosiveness and great vision Then we can always use Leon Washington on screen passes, line him up in the slot, and we all know he's a great kick returner and punt returner for our special teams. With all that said, im still all for drafting Gholston in round one, and Kenny Phillips in round two (If he's still on the board)

Green DNA
Leon is a valuable weapon, if he was released I would lose all confidence in Tangini. Thomas Jones? meh (shrugs shoulders).
SayNoToDMC
Thomas Jones. How is that even a question? Yeah no question. Lets get rid of the unproven guy like TJ who managed to go over a 1100 yards behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league, and defenses stacking the box every game. That way we can upgrade to truly proven back DMC who is the best college back since Reggie Bush, don't worry that he can't break tackles, or a third of his yards game in a gimmick offense where he was QB. He's going to be faster then NFL defenders just like Reggie, and he is going to be a monster between the tackles. It's going to cost us a ton more cap space but it's obviously worth it. Wow, 1,100 yards, that's amazing. 68 yards a game on 20 carries per game. Fantastic. No one else could have possibly done that. Only our brave little soldier, Thomas Jones. Only our brave little soldier, Thomas Jones. Thomas Jones had a bad season last year, but who on the Jets offesne had a better year than Thomas Jones? I always keep in mind that Thomas Jones was still in his 1st year as a Jet with Montgomery as his starting LG with Clement as his starting RT, lets not forget that Ferguson and Mangold were only 2nd year players trying to block for a RB in his first year as a Jet. Im looking foward to watching Thomas Jones next year as a 2nd year Jet, running behind an O-Line with a 7 time pro bowler in Faneca at LG, a player in Woody who went to the Pro Bowl on a Patriots SB winning team with Mangold and Ferguson both playing as 3rd year starters and both blocking for Thomas Jones for thier 2nd year. If we get Richardson for a yea or two, watch out, Thomas Jones may rush for over 1500 yards this year

Put a guy like DMC with his leg drive after contact behind our O-line last year, and couple that with our tremendous QB play, and you got double that easy. Running backs are not like wine; they don't get better with age. Jones will be 30 next season, which is an age that most running backs, no matter how good they are, tend to fall off a cliff. I don't see how anyone can 100% blame the offensive line for Thomas Jones' massive suckage last year. It also had something to do with Jones' inability to make anything happen unless he had a gigantic hole to run through. He doesn't run over people and he isn't super fast, either. He is mediocre in every facet of his game. Oh, and Leon Washington averaged 5 yards a carry behind the same ****ty line.

Abd thats exactly why I dont understand why everyone thinks drafting McFadden is a HUGE mistake... Darren McFadden is an exciting prospect who has better speed and vision than MarShawn Lynch, Jones-Drew, Ronnie Brown or even Reggie Bush! The only knock I hear about McFadden is that he has small legs, well guess what? Those small legs have dominated the NCAA for three years now and McFadden is only a Junior, he's not a senior, his potential is out of the arena. Has anyone ever seen his stiff arm? It's lethal In 3 years when Thomas Jones is breaking down at the age of 33, when Leon Washington is still not an every down back, Darren McFadden can be that franchise back for the Jets than LT is to the Chargers, Lynch is to the Bills, Jones-Drew is to the Jaguars, Williams is to the Bucs, Peterson is to the Vikings, Maroney is to the Patriots or even what Dunn has been to the Falcons, A player who can simply change the game with his ability out of the backfield. Im in love with Vernon Gholston, but at the same time, I feel the Jets need to roll the dice on this one, if he's still on the board, and bring that "Sexy Pick" to the Jets.
