BP
March 5, 2008 Despite negotiations for a new contract that would add badly needed salary-cap relief dragging on with no end in sight, team insiders tell us star WR Larry Fitzgerald continues to wholeheartedly pledge his allegiance to the Cardinals. But the way we hear it, if there isn
jetpower10
give our 1st and coles to them for fitz? hey cotch and fitz 1 2 punch at wr would be badass, hes young and is definately worth our 1st and coles keeps whining so can ship his ass to the cards. hey it works out for everyone.. DieHardJetsFan
link It would be nice getting him and getting rid of Coles. Great find man! It would be a dream come true to get trade Coles for a player like Fitzgerald but it could be a disaster if we were to lose the 6th overall pick all because Coles is unhappy The Cards run alot of 4-3 Defense also. Maybe we could give them a package deal with Coles, Robertson, our 10th pick in the 4th round and maybe even our 7th rounder. Maybe Robertson, Coles, a 4th and a 7th is alot for a superstar WR but I think it could be worth it for Kellen and this Jets team.

BP
What would it take from us to get him? Coles and the 6? Just the #6? BP
So we give the Cardinals our #1 pick(6th overall) and Coles and a 4th rounder for their #1 pick(16th overall) and Fitzgerald.

I want the guy, but I'm not so sure we should be giving up all of our draft this year. If we could swing coles and the 6 for fitz and their first rounder I'd be ****ing ecstatic. Didn't we get an extra 4th rounder this year? I'd even throw that in.

I would give them our 1st Coles and Robertson with no hesitation. I think everyone is tired of Coles ****, Robertson we are going to cut anyway(I doubt they would be that interested since the reason for moveing Fitz is cap room) and I would happily trade away the potential cap nightmare that comes with picking top 10 and give that money to a proven playmaker. DieHardJetsFan
I still think the best deal for the Jets would be Coles, Robertson, our 10th pick in the 4th round (we still have a 4th round pick) and our 7th for a player like Fitz But no way would I wanna see us give them our #6 pick in the 1st round
stoicsentry
I'd be thrilled to have Fitz. But Coles + #6 overall for Fitz. Question: why would the Cards do this deal? If their problem is money, why pick up a guy who wants more than he's worth and a high first round pick that will mean big money for unproven talent? I can say with relative assurance that they would just laugh at us, if that was out offer.
The Troll
I would give them the next two ones. Adding Fitzgerald would hopefully have the Jets picking near the end of round one next season anyway.
rick34125
or flip flopping our #1 picks. the Cardinals pick 16th in the first round. THAT I would do. Have you emailed this to Tannenbaum yet? Let's get this done.
The Troll
Have you emailed this to Tannenbaum yet? Let's get this done. If the Cardinals scoff at Lito Shepard and a 2nd, they aren't going to swap Fitzgerald for Coles just to move up 10 spots in the draft.
Blackout
What would it take from us to get him? Coles and the 6? Just the #6? i would just trade the 6th or trade Coles and the 6th for Fitzgerald and a 2nd rounder

According to the trade chart the #6 overall draft pick is equal in value to the #16 overall pick plus a late 1st rounder. They're also getting Coles. Coles plus a late 1st rounder in value. If they don't want the cap hit of the overall #6 pick they could trade down for multiple 1st and 2nd round picks. I'm no expert, but it sounds good to me. The twins had a guy they couldn't afford who they were asking a lot for. The asked for too much and ended up having the take the 3rd best offer for him. Stranger things have happened in professional sports. The guy is a very good WR, but he isn't worth as much as they are asking for him.

uart
So we give the Cardinals our #1 pick(6th overall) and Coles and a 4th rounder for their #1 pick(16th overall) and Fitzgerald. Or Our #1, Coles and DRob for Fitz and their #1 Doable?

SayNoToDMC
Or Our #1, Coles and DRob for Fitz and their #1 Doable? No, Drob has no trade value. Especially not to a team trading possibly their best player for cap reason's.
MasonJet
No, Drob has no trade value. Especially not to a team trading possibly their best player for cap reason's. Well he does have some small value and it might be enough when you throw it in with the 6th overall pick and a solid starting receiver. I would be very surprised if anything came of this though. Sperm Edwards
They got Gabe Watson and Alan Branch in the last 2 drafts & they're dirt cheap. Why would they want DRob and his $10M cap hit in '08 in their effort to ditch Fitzgerald's $16M cap hit in '08? Can't dump our garbage on other people. You want something of value you have to give them something of value -- that they WANT -- to get it.

He really doesn't he isn't going to want to restructure his contract for a trade because he knows the Jets are cutting him June 1st and so does the rest of the league, and if we don't we have to pay him his ridiculous salary which we aren't going to. Irish Jet
It's funny how Arizona are laughing at us for giving that big contract to Pace while they have literally ****ed themselves over with this Fitz situation. Why in the name of God would you offer a WR THAT much money, it was so stupid in the first place.
