Favorite_Toon
I mean if you have been a Jet fan as long as I have.. Cant you just smell whats about to happen... The jets sign Jesse Chapman.. Which Might keep them out of getting Mcfadden.. Heres a scenerio that seems likely to happen if you are the Ny jets...(not another franshise) but the NY Jets... So pick 6 comes and the cowboys come calling and they indeed give us there two first round picks and maybe a 4th... They select mcfadden and wisk him away to irving texas... We with our picks select... Say.. Wr Hardy and a CB or what not... Years later we see Mcfadden going to prowl bowl after probowl..cowboys win a superbowl... And we say to ourselves... Sh*t remember when we had a chance to draft Mcfadden.. wow im so glad we signed jesse chapman.. thats what stopped us... and then Laugh and Laugh of what a stupid move.. As for the guys we picked instead... There not even on our team anymore.. Hardy turned out to be another Alex Van Dyke and the cb was another derrick strait.. I mean come one guys... Are you telling me of all the torment we have to endure year after year.. I mean maybe I am too much of a die hard jets fan..and people on this board are more casual and it doesnt really effect there lives if the jets lose.. but when the jets lose my rest of the sunday is miserable.. So whoever has gone through misery after misery you cant tell me you dont see this happening.. And its not like we have a great record of picking good picks either.. They made a whole video of our draft day blunders... Marion? Rice? Emmit Smith? Sapp? Kyle Brady? Johnnie Lamb Jones? Alex Van dyke? Anthony Becht? Roger Vick? and I can compile a list longer then that..but I wil spare you..

#27TheDominator
1. If he were concensus BAP he would not be lasting until six in so many mock drafts. You love him. We get it. It does not mean everybody else does. Coming out of college, Darren McFadden is not O.J. Simpson. He's not Earl Campbell. Hell, he's not even Billy Simms. 2. You are to Darren McFadden what JR128 is to Big Brother. I think they should merge all your DMC threads into one and only let you post his name in there. That's what makes message boards fun. I don't think it is worth the risk. As far as Gholson goes, I also have my questions about him. That is why I would love to either trade down, or trade #6 and Coles, to Az. for Fitzgerald. I know both are long shots. If Ghlolson and McFadden are still on the board when the Jets pick, I have to take Gholson, not because he is a sure fire, can't miss guy, but because the odds are higher he will be an impact player in the NFL. Of course it's possible that McFadden will be a great back. I just think with the several serious raps against him, the odds are way against it. Sperm Edwards
Favorite_Toon, I know how you feel: - The Jets were the only team in the NFL with Al Toon ranked higher than Jerry Rice coming out of college. They were also the only ones to pass on Emmitt Smith (who would have had just as good of a career on the Jets), Warren Sapp, etc. - The only way to get a talent like Marion Barber III (I'm guessing he's the "Marion" you meant), Jerry Rice, Warren Sapp, Emmitt Smith is with a top-6 draft pick. Because every one of those guys were drafted within the first 6 picks, right? - No one has ever won a superbowl (or had a RB go to multiple pro bowls) without burning a top-6 pick. - McFadden is a guarantee to walk the straight & narrow in/around NYC with an instant $10M of after-tax cash in his pocket before his 21st birthday. - Running success against smaller, slower college players (compared to the NFL level) is always indicative of how someone will perform once they actually get to the NFL. - The SEC teams he played against are so good they're like mid-level NFL teams. - There are/were no RB's taken in or around the top-6 to never lived up to their college hype. Blair Thomas, Ki-Jana Carter, Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, Cedric Benson, Reggie Bush, Curtis Enis, Thomas Jones, Lawrence Phillips, Tim Worley, Alonzo Highsmith, Brent Fullwood are all figments of our imagination & were not taken with top 6-ish picks in the 20 drafts before stupid Mangini/Tannenbaum came to town. They ALL have gone to multiple pro bowls and were the main catalyst for their respective teams' post-season & superbowl successes. If we could go back in time, we should make every effort to get one or more of those players. - No one else on McFadden's team ran the ball well (or with any success) at all. - It is ridiculous to think his twiggy lower body & upright running style may leave him susceptible to many (if not regular or severe) injuries. It is foolish to think otherwise. You should be running every NFL franchise. And make some more of these threads please.

Favorite_Toon
The Jets were ranked 29th vs. the run in '07 and went out and got big K. Jenkins and C. Pace to help out there. They also seemed to get themselves ready for McFadden by spending a boat-load of money on rebuilding that O-Line and getting a legit FB. The man they call "RunDMC" will have a monster line to run behind as if he needs it. He is 6-2, 205 lbs and runs a 4.33? Yikes. Even Jets fans can't booo this pick...can they? If we do, it seems more likely that instead of a first, another first, and a third, that we'd get a first & then Barber has the trade value of a first & a third right now. And of the 4, I'd rather have him as long as we're making up wish lists.

From A well known sports writer Jets fans at the draft cheered Blair Thomas & booed Hugh Douglas. Like it matters what they think. Though they were spot on with lots of their boos...the prior FO's gave them plenty of ammunition. And 205 lbs is scary-light for a RB who's 6'2" (already the upper-end of how tall you want a RB to be). Leon Washington, dubbed too small to take the pounding of being an every-down back, weighed 2 lbs less than that at his combine...despite being a full 6" shorter. At only 2" taller, Brandon Jacobs outweighs McFadden by some 60 lbs - 60!!! - and even he couldn't stay healthy for a full season. Cheer up. All is not lost for the Jets without McFadden. Nor is all won if we do draft him. Frankly, Clemens/Pennington/Ratliff is of immensely greater concern to me than Jones/Leon/Chatman. If we do take "Run DMC," I'll certainly root hard for the kid & hope he's everything you say he will be.

What about threads other people started that he turned into McFadden threads? Do those count? Because I count some 60-70 separate threads where Favorite_Toon has elected to discuss or comment on Darren McFadden in the past 2 months.
Sperm Edwards
LOL.
