You mean he's cheaper than Jamal Lewis?

Jets sign RB Jesse Chatman

Leon Washington must be one confused running back this morning.

The Jets signed former Dolphins RB Jesse Chatman last night, according to the Palm Beach Post. Chatman, who knows O.C. Brian Schottenheimer from their days together in San Diego, will compete with Washington for the backup job behind Thomas Jones, Chatman

This noting more but a roster fight to make the club. He wont beat out Leon and Jones for a roster spot. I see him sharing 3rd downs with Leon but this move means noting big yet

he doesn't have to beat out Jones or Leon-we need a power back like Chatham-did you SEE the Jets in short yardage and GL situations last year? The only way we were able to convert was if the QB sneaked it-even the Brad Smith trickery crap stopped working. This move gives us 3 completely different style running backs

I'm not sure we should take McFadden, BUT the thought of a Jesse Chatman blocking McFadden's way just baffles me. I'm sure Chatman's deal was a 1 yr deal with minimal signing bonus, so if you cut him, just eat the 50K.

How does this signing have any impact on McFadden whatsoever? I think it'd be 50/50 they take him if both McFadden and Gholston were on the board. However, ultimately I think they'd prefer to trade down above all else.

Dallas giving up two firsts & a third for McFadden is as lopsided as when the Saints traded all of their picks for Ricky Williams.

Would be a dream if we could get that. I can't believe Dallas would do that when they still have Barber unsigned as well.

Jesse Chatman is pure insurance and will not affect any future RB decision. He is not in the same league as Leon and not in the same universe as Darren McFadden. If DMac is available at 6 take him at all costs and trade TJ. Lets not be shy here. Is there a chance that he won’t work out ? Maybe. But, I would rather take that chance then have him possibly wind up an All Pro in a Patriots uniform running all over us twice a year. That would be a hard pill hard to swallow.

Your kidden right? Jones is a POWER back and Leon is a burner type back. Chatham who is that? We had no Online last season its a waste of move 3rd string RB's never toach the field unless someone is hurt.

No one is going to trade up for McFadden. Felix Jones and Rashad Mendenhall will be available later in the first round. They are both a notch below DMac but great backs none the same and can be had for a lot less money.

Dallas' LOWER first rounder is the more than the value of their 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th combined. So it's almost like Ditka trading all NO's picks for Ricky Williams. It's ridiculous. Particularly in a draft with 3 top-talent RB's and plenty of talent throughout the draft.

If Dallas offered us two firsts even-up I'd probably grab it. This isn't a top-heavy draft. Two first round talents whose contracts won't combine for half of the #6 pick, and who may yet yield better talent (or talent at a far more-needed position) without feeling like we're "reaching" for a player.

I don't think anyone is blocking a McFadden selection. I don't think the Jets are even contemplating a McFadden selection. I wouldn't be surprised if they never had any intention of selecting him. A lot of people are assuming it though; in particular, a lot of media experts.

If McFadden is available the Jets will have no choice but to take him or trade the pick to a team in another division that they know will definitely take him. New England is next up and they cannot take the chance of him winding up with the Patriots.

However, the point may be moot. Al Davis will probably select him at #4 (even though the Raiders desperately need interior line help on both sides) because he loves the flashy, big name players and still has no idea what's best for the team. McFadden and Jamarcus Russell will be trading horror tales on who gets beat up the worst behind their crappy offensive line.

Like the pats would even take this bum. The Jets draft plan should have nothing to do with what the pats are going to do, but what would make their team the strongest team possible.

The Pats would most certainly take him and behind their offensive line he would be running over, through, and around us twice a year for the foreseeable future.

B.S. The pats have no need for him. Their defense sucks way to much for them to pick a ****ty RB like mcfadden.

****ty back. Guess you didnt see what he did against the national champions with a mediocre Arkansas team with no QB.

Andre Woodson threw 3 TD's and had a QB rating of 126.5 against the National Champs with a mediocre Kentucky team.

The Jets need a QB more than a RB, so based on your logic Woodson is the man right?

Not at all. Just trying to make the point that he is far from a ****ty back. McFadden rated out as the top prospect in this year's draft among NFL scouts. Andre Woodson rated as the 5th best QB and most likely a 3rd rounder. No comparison.

Did you see it? he was lined up at QB for a lot of that game, are we going to use the Wild Hog offense this year? cause truth be told, and I might be the only one but I kind of have my doubts about that working in the NFL
