AFJF
Not something I want to discuss on here because it was political and that is not the point of this topic. I just found myself watching this show and thinking "never in a million years would you see this shown on ANY news channel in the US" so it got me wondering how much of what we see in the US is legit and how much of it is sugar coated. So without making this political, lets leave out the networks that are not the ones you "trust". How much of what your favorite news channel shows you do you believe and how much do you think is BS. I'd just be interested to see who follows their reporters with blind or close to blind loyalty and how much people question even the people they "trust" and to what degree. Again, no politics. Just want to know how much you trust your favorite news source.
Tictac
I try not to watch any news, I feel they pick inadequate things to talk about, they leave out alot of what Americans should be hearing about.
Bob
I trust the major media because of the competition between them. One would love to catch the others in an error or omission, so there's incentive to get it right and to do it as thoroughly as their air time allows. I'd be interested to hear about this report you saw. Please PM or email me if you don't want to put it out in the forum.
rillo
I don't trust any of them....theres a lot of stuff going on in the world and here in the US that isn't being reported. I don't watch the news for this simple fact, I get my news from the internet and internet radio.
Boozer76
News networks report on what shocks us, not necessarily the truth. It's not that they will lie but rather omit certain truths. For example, all you see on the war is dying soldiers, dying Iraqi civilians, terrorist bomings, car bombs, roadside bombs, etc.. Those things get much more of a reaction from the viewers than showing a bunch of freed civilians and all the good that is happening there. It's just them reporting one side that they feel viewers will watch more of. I only use war as one example, but rest assured it happens in every piece of news you see. Just my two cents but the particular story I saw was about the war and had no mention of bombs or soldiers being killed but it had me absolutely glued to the screen and was more telling than any story I'd seen on the news in the US. I actually only caught the last ten minutes of it which kind of pissed me off.
Arsis
American News is all about sensationalism. They're only going to report on stories that intend to either distract you or put you into a sense of panic and fear. The new corporations are owned and controlled by wealthy and powerful people who don't give a **** about truth or honesty and only want to make money and keep people stupid and quiet. Scott Dierking
Broadcast news only gives you a fractional (and a small fraction) amount of news compared to what the print media can give you on a story. What you get on a broadcast story is sterile and abbreviated. USAToday, if you will (and yes, I do not consider USAToday a true print medium. I watched the BBC for about five minutes when I got here and immediately I was really surpried at them showing injured soldiers being carried off the batte field. The kind of stuff you'd only see on an HBO type of thing in the US.

MasonJet
American mainstream media is completely untrustworthy. It's not that they're liberal or conservative, they just waste so much time on topics that are completely irrelevant. Cough Britney Spears. Fortunately I have plenty of real news sources that I visit regularly and these sources report on things that actually matter and analyze them in logical ways. And AFJF, one guy that I like is Greg Palast, and he can only get his stuff on BBC TV and CNN or MSNBC would never dream of broadcasting the actual journalism that he does. Have you ever watched him over there?

Have you ever watched him over there? I honestly can't say I watch any journalists over here on a regular enough basis to know any of them by name. Although I do like it when I catch a politician on an inteview show. That's anothere HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE difference over here. When they ask the politician a question the pol will do the typical thing american pols do and they'll answer a question that wasn't even asked and the interviewer won't let them bull**** and brings the discussion back on topic until they give an answer. Some are better at it than others but again I couldn't name one of 'em if you paid me.

Lil Bit Special
The american media sucks. They only care about how many eyeballs are going to watch their program so they can charge advertisers more money. Plus a lot of Americans suck with their desire to know what the **** goes on in celebrities lives, and other bullsh!t. The networks will show us what us idiots want... mindless fluff. There are too many Americans who dont care what is going on in the world, this country, their state, or even their city. If it doesnt impact them, they dont care.
