The Troll
Greatest ever? No, I think I'd give that distinction to the Stones. But, the Doors are definitely up there.
Thor99
Do the rest of you remember when you went to college and discovered what good music was? Is there any chance we could send Kobe to college? I'm not sure that the University of Phoenix would even take him.

Kidhuman
Are they the best rock band ever? I think they might be. Not best ever top 10 easily I think they are without a doubt in the top 5 of rock bands. Not top 5, not better than: The Beatles Grateful Dead Zep Floyd Stones The Who of course its all opinion. If Morrison hadnt been a dooshy and OD'd they could have been a hell of alot better.
Irish Jet
I also prefer U2. As a band, not as people. I think they're a pack of dickheads but they have some damn good music. Like Kid said though, it's all opinion.

Kidhuman
Barton, from you're list and what Thor added to it, you need to get The WASP(Texas Radio and the Big Beat)
NJ
Great stuff EB - Jim Morrison was a certainly on another plane of awareness. I'd like to think they could have churned out some more classics if Jimmy wouldnt have gotten so bound up into the lizard king bs - but that was all part of the genius. Too fast to live - too young to die - bye bye.
SoFlaJets
every decade The Doors get real popular again...you can't go wrong with the whole CDs of Morrison Hotel and LA Woman.... Barton -if you want a couple of other good ones try Land Ho, Runnin' Blue, Tell All The People, Universal Mind and Maggie McGill-they're all on Limewire....I never heard of The Doors doing Heroin and I saw it up there too on Limewire.....that was a Lou Reed song

Boozer76
First of all, just to let you know Barton, Herion is not a Doors song. It's the Velvet Underground. As to the Doors, I think their music is great, I just feel they are very overrated to be honest. I also hate their guitarist, Robbie Krieger. The guy would have you believe he is the greatest guitarist and musician there has ever been. Maybe he is why I kind of cringe when I hear the Doors, bu I just don't think they are one of the top 5, top 10, or even top 20 to be honest. Yea, i had a few covers in that list (who do you love, gloria, heroin). Any other covers that they did that were really good? The thing that amazes me, is they put out 6 albums in 5 years. It's much better than the album version.
