Jets Vs Chiefs Week 1

Smizzy

Recommended Posts

Were going to have our hands full week 1.

Gonzo & Holmes are more then a handfull....remember the last meeting between these 2 teams....Holmes killed us. He had a monster day and he ran wild all over us.

Thoughts?

I'll be attending the game. Our defense needs to be ready go, specifically our D-line against their monster offensive line. I think that will certainly be the key matchup. If JA is healthy and ready to play and D-Rob turns in a top game, we could certainly pull out of KC 1-0.

Then again they might end up mauling us and stuffing the ball down our throats all day. Either way should be a nail biter.

I believe the last time we played them Fat Teddy was still running the defense..I have faith in Hendu to devise a game plan to hold Holmes to an average game...Now Gonzo is a different story but I think our lb's are faster and more athletic then they were last game...It will be close but I think we win

This game rely's on the play of Hobson / McGraw on Gonzalez (McGraw is the TE coverage specialist) and how quick Legree / Pouha / Reed and how well they can play on the Line, if both happen, KC doesn't score 20 points, if one falters, we better be ready to score 28 or so.

Ya know Max, you might just be right on that one.

Last year, didn't PennyBoy lead the Jets to the AFCE Pre-Season title?

Yeah that's right. He brought back the title to its rightful home.

Bruce Coslet worked so hard to get the pre-season title here. And every other team screwed it up.

I hate to say it, but I think the team that signs Ty Law wins.

If the Jets don't have him, they're going to get toasted by that offense. I have some expectations of a bigger and better offense under Dinger, but I don't know if they'll be up for winning a shootout on the road in the season opener.

Slats, you make a real good point here.

When good defensive teams (like the Jets) get caught up in a shoot-out, bad things tend to happen because you are asking your offense to do more than they are capable.

With a good defensive team you want to physically control the game and allow your offense to execute a ball-control game plan.

The opener in KC, can easily turn into a shoot-out. Trent Green does not get the respect that he deserves. I'm also leary that the Pats-Raiders game could turn into a shoot-out as well.

Bottom line, I still say Ty Law eventually ends up with the Jets. The Jets have the biggest need of the remaining teams bidding for his services.

I understand what you are saying. I just have doubts about how soon Law will be ready to make an impact. Week One he may not be a big factor IMO.

a win in week 1 will set the tone for the rest of the season. the jets will be pretty big underdogs but if the defense comes to play should be able to slow down holmes - who i think is coming off an injury.

i think the NY secondary should be able to handle the chiefs, they don't have world-class speed guys. the key for the jets is to make KC move the ball between the 20's and keep them out of the end zone. nothing wrong with giving up 400 yds and 16 pts.

don't forget special teams, nugent in his first game and the jets have to cover Dante Hall who really is the human joystick.

i like the jets on the road starting the season on the right foot w/fiedler or pennington.

Jets 24 - KC 19

I'm new in this site, I'm a mexican chiefs die hard fan.

I learned bout this site from smizzy, he has already registred in the chiefshuddle site, I'm a member there (my name there is eaelias8).

I like the Jets, specially against the fish (a.k.a. 'fins) my bro is a fins fan, so I smack at him when another team plays and beats his pityful team.

As for week one, I hope we win that game, i know your team is tough and will be a hard battle, but we have the advantage to play at arrowhead. As for some post i just read in this topic, I dont see any way possible, the jets can stop the red scoring machine, dont get me wrong, i know your D is strong but in a normal environment KC O is unstopable, specialy in the red zone where the D has to pick its poison: holmes, TG, etc.

I defenitely know that each team have a chance to win this game but we have a slight advantage just for the stadium thing.

So go Jets I'll be rooting for you beginning in week 2. :D

Getting Ty Law is a Jet Perogative....with him ...we could really play aggressively up front...take more chances. When a defense takes more chances because the DBs can handle man on man, that usually means

more turnovers

more three and outs...

Thanks for joining the site and kind words about the jets- KC is always tough at Arrowhead- the Jets will I think try to control the clock and manage the game with long drives-not saying they will definitely do it but that is the best way to keep the Chiefs and their offense off the field

I don't understand why everyone is so high on Law. I find it hard to believe that a 30-something man coming off major surgery will have enough impact to determine the outcome of a game. Especially at Arrowhead.

If we do sign him, I hope I'm wrong. I hope he does pick off a couple and shut down their #1 WR. I'd like nothing more than to eat my words.

Don't get me wrong, I like the prospect of signing Law. Hell, it certainly can't hurt to have him on our side. I just don't see it as a prerogative.

DieHard, would you apply the same line of thinking to a 28-year old QB coming off major surgery to his throwing shoulder?

Absolutley. Huge question mark there. There's a big difference though; #10 is already on the payroll, so you have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

It's late in the offseason and Law's still unemployed. Why? I think there may be more to this than his salary demands. Maybe he's not as healthy as everyone here thinks.

We could definitely win this game as long as our D does well enough. If we can hold Holmes to an average game that would be very good. I think we should be definitely able to score on them too, even with Hackett we could put up a bunch of points on this team.

There's no average game for Holmes, well there are 2td's and over 80 yards. But you have to slow down TG also, and pressure Trent, stop Dante and on and on, I figure your D (its good) will have its hands full. As for scoring a lot of points on our improved D with your "powerful" O, I dont think so, Curtis is a great back but beyond that I dont see so many weapons to score a bunch of points on anybody, your game is control the football not score a bunch of points, If the jets go into a shoot out the odds are against them, I'll say it all over again, you dont have the weapons to keep pace with our scoring machine, so your job is not only to slow down Priest!!!

I'm tellin you guys right now....

1st play of the game, Drob should run through the Oline before the ball is snapped and helmet dive at Holmes knees.

This is the worst post ever sorry barton, but your post its a shame to all football fans, I dont wish bad things even for a Raiders or donx Player.

In the case Priest isnt avialable (spell) we have Larry.
