LionelRichie
There's no average game for Holmes, well there are 2td's and over 80 yards. But you have to slow down TG also, and pressure Trent, stop Dante and on and on, I figure your D (its good) will have its hands full. As for scoring a lot of points on our improved D with your "powerful" O, I dont think so, Curtis is a great back but beyond that I dont see so many weapons to score a bunch of points on anybody, your game is control the football not score a bunch of points, If the jets go into a shoot out the odds are against them, I'll say it all over again, you dont have the weapons to keep pace with our scoring machine, so your job is not only to slow down Priest!!! i don't know about that. the jets D really stopped the run last year. Look at the 2 games against SD. They even stopped Pitt for 3 quarters both games and just wore out in the end. The D should not wear out b/c the O should be able to stay on the field against a sub-par chiefs D. I don't expect Priest to have a huge game at all. Also, it's not exactly like KC is going to stretch the field. The jets D-Backs struggle against guys that can burn, which other than Hall the chiefs don't really have on O. Look for McGlass (if not injured) to match up pretty well on TG.

I get your point, and partially agree with it. you mention 2 games vs SD and Pitt in PO's, but by no means those 2 O's can be measurable with KC O, not even close, the only O at the same level is Indy. I know we have a subpar D last yearI hope we have improved enough to compete against good O's, But lets remember 1 thing, the jets O, last year, was subpar too, besides curtis martin. Savage69
I'm tellin you guys right now.... 1st play of the game, Drob should run through the Oline before the ball is snapped and helmet dive at Holmes knees. EB go to your Room for a 1 hr Time out!! And when Daddy comes home your getting a spanking!! How would you like it if someone did that to Martin?? You should thank Holmes for not playing the last 1/2 of the 04 Season because after 8 games he had 14 TD's and almost 900 yds Rushing!! Had he played the whole year no Title for Old Man Cumar! PlayActionKC
I dont know why people forget about the Chiefs Widerecievers. I guess they think Tren Green threw 4500 yards to just Tony Gonzalez. Sammie Parker Marc Boerighter Eddie Kennison Dante Halle All run a 4.3 Which is faster then most DBs. The primise of the offense passing attack is speed. Now with Kennison and Boerighter your not going to be jaming these guys, both are 200 lb recievers with super fast football speed. No one runs better routes then Kennison. So then the question is, lets say yall do shut down our two top recievers, and yall do happen to cover tony gonzalez, and yall still have someone to cover Running back out the back field. Who is left to covering Chiefs Slot man??? Now we just dont have any ole slot reciever, now we have a mismatch type reciever. this position in 2005 will be our X factor on this offense. The 2002,2003,2004 Chiefs have never had a good thris reciever. butthis year we finally do. That player will be Boerighter 6'3 220 at 4.3 and you got a TE Kris Wilson at 6'2 250 with 4.6 speed. Tony Gonzalez himself compares this guy to Shannon shape. so while the defense worried about Tony they will not be able to stop this guy who will be on the field at the same time. Only way to stop the chiefs is to get mad pressure and send blitzes but with the world class speed we got that we didnt have last year, those will equate in long plays. As for the defense, we have gain speed, and speed is the great equalizer to power running offensive teams. and down field passing attacks, which the jets will be implimenting in 2005. I wish you guys luck, but the Chiefs offense just added two more weapons it didnt have last year. and the sup par defense added 6 new players 3 which play at probowl level. that enough to slow down a offense some, enough to allow our offense to get a sizable lead. GimmeShelter
Slats, you make a real good point here. When good defensive teams (like the Jets) get caught up in a shoot-out, bad things tend to happen because you are asking your offense to do more than they are capable. With a good defensive team you want to physically control the game and allow your offense to execute a ball-control game plan. The opener in KC, can easily turn into a shoot-out. Trent Green does not get the respect that he deserves. I'm also leary that the Pats-Raiders game could turn into a shoot-out as well. Bottom line, I still say Ty Law eventually ends up with the Jets. The Jets have the biggest need of the remaining teams bidding for his services. We have not seen the new offense this year so we are not sure if a shoot out is asking too much of this group. That said we should be able to dominate on the ground and hopefully limit their offense's possesions.

Holmes does have average games, and could definitely have one against our top rushing D. Pressuring the QB is always important to winning the game and I hope we can do it. You don't see any weapons beyond Curtis? Maybe you should look harder. Pennington if he's healthy, Coles, McCareins, Jolley, Blaylock. Our game certainly used to be control the football with Wackett, but now we have an actual offensive coordinator so things should be different. You guys have a great O, but we have a pretty good D ourselves and some pretty good personnel for slowing down Gonzalez with Vilma and Barton. The weakest part of our D is the secondary, and the Chiefs WR's certainly don't scare me too much so I'm fairly confident.

Well i would agree yall do have weapons. and with the new downfield apporoach yall will have. yall should score some points on good Defenses. But our wide recievers about to shine this year, Sammie Parker, he will put 100 yards on you. and if Al Suanders knows your secondary is well. Do not look for Tony G to be getting the ball much, just in "have to" situations. but saunders will be attacking the weakest link. so if its your secondary, look for Parker/Kennison or Boerighter/Kennison to have a Huge Game. StillerPaul
I'll watch the game just to see how Kendrell Bell plays. If that guy gets his act together and stays healthy, expect a pro-bowl year from him. I have a funny feeling i'll miss him more than i thought. Last year Atlanta came to arrowhead as a 1 rushing D, and priest put up 103 YDS and 4 TD's... in one half. I know he isn't invencible but as long as the O line is healthy, there's no way your D can stop us, our O is as complete as you can find in the NFL with so many weapons, you can slow down one but not all of them, I dont know why some people tend to forget our passing attack, I know we are a rushing team, but 4500 plus yards its something most teams would wish or dream about it. And you cant lead the league in total O just running or passing it takes a complete team, and dont forget we were Priest less for half of last season. Sounds from the offseason are that this group will be even better, so this thought should be pretty serious dont you think??? I like your optimism, but it doesnt sound realistic, Barton couldnt handle TG, not even Vilma or whoever the jets decide to put on him. There is so much work on Herm to come with a top game plan to slow down this powerful scoring machine.

They allowed Trent to throw for 4500 plus yards, something that Chad (I respect him, he's a good qb) can only dream about with a more "reliable" wr tandem in your words. AMDChief
Hopefully the coaching staff over looks our WR's like you are Last year we were thin at WR due to injuries - Not the case this year. It will be nice to see Parker and Bo light up the scoreboard while everyone mumbles, "where the h3ll did they come from..." Our O-line, Trent, Richardson, Holmes, Johnson, Kennison, Parker, Bo, Wilson, Gonzo... pick your poison (Dont forget the human joystick) Should be a good game - looking forward to it!
