I'm loving the fact that we went out and upgraded the offensive line in ways that will only help this team for years to come, not only will Alan Faneca upgrade the LG position in terms of run blocking and pass protection but I also believe that Faneca will improve the progression of D'Brickishaw Ferguson who has the potential to be a franchise type of LT for years to come along with Nick Mangold who has the type of talent to be an all pro type of Center to anchor this Jets O-Line for many years. I'm also excited about Tony Richardson for the simple fact this Jets team is looking to win-and win now. He may onlyhave 2-3 years left in the tank but the bottom line is that he has led the way for backs such as Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson and also helped a rookie RB get over 1,000 yards last year in Adrian Peterson. I'm looking forward to watching Thomas Jones and Leon Washington run behind Mangold, Faneca and Richardson this year, we should have one of the best blocking teams in the league. As far as Woody goes, I'm really not sure but at the same time, I'm sure he should be a better RT than Clement who was one of the worst Offensive lineman I have ever seen as a STARTER. But I do love the fact that Woody has played and started on the Patriots SB Team of 2001 while making the pro bowl, and the fact that he can play just about every position on the O-Line should be an added bonus. Calvin Pace, Wow... We payed a lot of $$$ for the man but at the same time, he should be a perfect fit for this Jets 3-4 Defense. I like the way he can get after the QB from the outside, I like the way he can tackle in the open field (Something like 88 solo tackles last year) And I also love the fact that he's a huge OLB for this 3-4 Defense. Call me crazy, but I think the signing of Pace can only help Bryan Thomas in terms of going back to the position that he had his breakout season. I just feel that Parcells was going after Pace with guns blazing for a reason, Im glad Mangini took note of that and landed this Jets defense a true 3-4 OLB I'm all for the Jets drafting McFadden or Gholston. I would rather see Gholston get drafted because he may be the next Ware/Merriman type of OLB for this 3-4 Defense. Pace and Gholston from the outside, Harris and Barton in the middle with Jenkins playing upfront as the 3-4 NT should spell trouble for opposing players and coaches. Gholston-Harris-Barton-Pace-Jenkins with Revis and Rhodes in the secondary can only = a Top 10 Defense in my eyes. McFadden would be great but at the same time, a dominating defense can actually take us to the SB as long as we have an Offense that can move the ball, pick up the first downs, take up the clock and put a good 21-27 points each game. I just feel that we have some holes at the #2 CB position with Miller, Barrett or Coleman, I would love for the Jets to go and and draft a CB like Cason in the 2nd round. I also feel we have a small hole with our Slot WR in either Smith or Stukey, I would love for them to address this with the 1st pick in the 4th round I can go on and on, but as a Jets fan, Im excited for this year like never before.
