As the NFL meetings get going, the Broncos are starting to revive their interest in Jets defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson.

The Broncos were close to dealing for Robertson in mid-March but the talks were stalled when the team suddenly fired general manager Ted Sundquist on March 12. Sundquist was the point man in the talks with the Jets.

With Sundquist now out of the picture and with Denver still needing a force in the middle of its young front four, the team has reconsidered making a deal for Robertson, a talented player who doesn't fit in the Jets' scheme.

Still, finalizing a deal will be difficult for Denver. Robertson's contract will have to be restructured and the team has been in on-again, off-again talks with his agent, Hadley Engelhard, for several weeks. Robertson is due a $3 million bonus in June and he has salary-cap number of about $11 million for this season.

Denver would have to redo the deal to make it fiscally worthwhile, especially with the Broncos in a cost-conscience mode this offseason.

The Broncos are said not to be overly concerned about an Robertson's knee problem. The issue was serious enough, however, to negatively impact a potential trade early in March that would have sent Robertson to Cincinnati for two mid-round picks.

At this point, it seems, the only hurdle standing in the way of Denver making its biggest splash of the offseason is coming to an agreement with Robertson financially.

Original offer I believe was a 4th and a 5th, it seems Robertson's unwillingness to cut a new contract was the reason the deal fell through, if we could still get a 4th and 5th I would be very happy.

If we got a 4th and a 5th the party's at my house.

Man, I hope the Jets can get something for this guy

At this point, I'd settle for just seeing him gone. All that it means is that our long list of 1st round busts gets longer. If I am not mistaking, he only had one sub par year and has never lived up to expectations. His bone on bone condition will not get better with age and his "Incredible strength" (As the clown Boobway put it) has simply been non existent. He will do better elsewhere and playing the 3-4, conversely, he will NEVER be a force. I have zero faith in him at any position on our team. I just want this bust out of here.

Arrivederci Robertson!
