My dog Max-

Thor99

Recommended Posts

I've had Max for 10 years, and he's been the sweetest, friendliest, most loyal dog anyone can ever ask for. I found out yesterday that he has advanced lymphoma and has less than 4 weeks to live.

It's so hard to believe that my friend is going away. He always had a big smile on his face and never failed to make me smile. It's so sad to see this energetic playful dog just lay there. My girlfriend and I have to make the decision whether to put him down or not. I know we should, but I can't just yet.

We just put our dog down after close to a decade of having him. It was very tough for the kids but the most important thing for me was making sure he wasn't in anymore pain.

It sucks. My advice is love him and spend as much time with him as you can and bring him in before he gets really sick.

You don't want your last memories of Max to be ones of him being sick and hurting. I fell bad for you ,my friend.

Ugh. I'm heartfully sorry, Sweat Pea. There's so much guilt involved. If only people were treated as kindly in their hour of need. I wish your best friend a happy journey. I have no belief in heaven, hell, or an afterlife, but the thought of seeing my dog again when all is said and done resonates with me. Funny how that is. Feel free to PM.

My heart goes out to you bro. You get sooooo attached because of the innocent devotion they have and unconditional love they shower us with. Good thoughts for you and your lady - and of course Max.

very sorry to hear that Thor, I know one of my dogs time is coming soon, we got a number of a mobile pet vet service. They can come to your house and euthinise your pet there, in a more comfortable natural setting. I would look into that. Enjoy the time you have with him.

:1cry: I'm sorry to hear about this Thor. I love dogs, wish I had one (a German Shepherd to be exact). They bring so much joy to our lives it's hard to make the decision when their life should end. If there's any pain, the only comfort can be knowing you were able to relieve him from the pain.

You will always know you gave Max the very best life possible. That is what helps get you though.

This reminds me, I should call my sister... they took their cat to the vet. I know, cats don't nearly measure up to dogs, but she is 17 years old and losing weight the past few weeks. She won't be long for this world.

Give Max a hug from all of us.

Well, he's gone.

He had a setback last night, and we took him to the vet this morning. It was easily the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

Thanks again, everyone.

Sorry to hear that man but it's for the best. I told this story before but we had a little poodle that absolutely hated me. The day came when we decided that it was time to put him down. Even though he hated me till the day he died I bawled like a baby when he was gone.
