1stand2nd
Great Blue North Draft Report is having their annual fan mock draft right now. The Chiefs fans are on the clock now. The Jets fans can vote in their draft pick starting at 9AM tomorrow. So far each team's fans have made the following picks: Mia - J Long SL - C Long Atl - G Dorsey Oak - V Gholston So, depending on who the Chiefs fans select, we'll have our choice of 2 out of McFadden, Ellis and Ryan. Who's it going to be boys and girls? I guess McFadden is the BPA. I'll vote for him even though I really wanted C Long or Gholston. P.S. here's the site: gbnreport.com
aec4
Of the 7 players you mentioned, here is the order I'd prefer them in: 1a) McFadden 1b) Ryan 3) C Long 4) J Long 5) Ellis 6) Gholston 7) Dorsey I don't think Dorsey fits our D that's why he's last. Gholston I think is ranked in the top 6 because of combine/workout stuff alone so I think he's a reach above 15. It's my opinion, and you can call me crazy, like a give 2 sh..ts. I still think that Kellen can be a solid starter, but what happens if we find out that he cant be? Whats the plan then? Im thinking it goes like this: MIA: Jake Long RAMS: Chris Long ATL: Matt Ryan OAK: McFadden KC: Olineman JETS: Gholston

You can't draft someone 6th and give him 8 figures guaranteed and he not be a starter.... To me, if you draft Ryan, unless he falls on his face in preseason you play him right out of the gate. I'm not a fan of this wait 3 yrs crap, especially when the other option has played 1/2 a season. In this new age of the NFL, you can't afford to pay someone an 8 figure bonus and ride the pine. You just can't. Let's say you sit him for 2 yrs, and you sign him to an 8 figure bonus. Well, if it was a 6 yr contract, you just lost 1/3 of the that bonus.... People can play other positions right out of the gate. My vote would be play ryan out of the gate. If he needs seasoning you play Pennington. Clemens is too young/unproven to sit there with someone looking over his shoulder

If were in a position to land an elite prospect, get him. You're exactly right. Matt Ryan is a very smart QB, and combined with his arm strength creates one superstar. I believe if we draft him, and trade up into late first to get Aquib Talib that we could honestly be perrenial Super Bowl contenders.
Afinogenov
Does anybody have any Matt Ryan highlights? I would love to see them, I did a quick youtube search for Matt Ryan and got a video of Ryan leading the final drive to beat VT, and I honestly wasn't impressed. Ryan scrambled out of the pocket at least 3 times, and on the touchdown throw, Ryan scrambled far to the left and hurled up a ball from the 30 to the back left corner of the endzone. I can't see Ryan being able to pull this stuff off in the NFL, but then again he was the entire offense on a solid BC team...

The reason Matt Ryan is so good is becuase he can scramble, and he can throw the ball where only his man can get it. He has a very high football IQ which makes him a vital asset in late-game situations. He doesn't panic under pressure, and always finds a way to move the chains. Before Matt Ryan showed-up, BC had only been ranked in the top 5 one time. He turned around the Boston College program and led them to eight straight victories to start the season. Imagine what he could do with talented recievers like Cotchery, and Coles. Even if he gets blitzed, he can even break a few tackles first before he'll go down. Take my word for it, I've watched every single game he's played at BC.
Lil Bit Special
McFadden. If we dont get him I will be really, really, really mad at the Jets Front Office for a long, long time. I dont think I will be able to forgive them. McFadden is a stud and we need to have him on our team. Heck, we should just sign him now and make him change his name to Joba or somethin'.... and say he's a Dominican shortstop.... We will be nothing without him. Ryan sucks balls and will be a waste of money. McFadden McFadden McFadden McFadden McFadden McFadden McFadden McFadden McFadden

I agree, while I'm not completely sold on Ryan, he will be twice the pro McFadden will be. I really hope the Jets stay away from McFadden this draft

I think both DMC and Ryan will be solid NFL players. But you gotta take the QB. Sit his ass down the entire season. In the meantime, find out if Clemens is our QB of the future. He doesnt impress me to be a top tier QB that we spend a lot of money on. I dont think he will be very good, especially with us. I have a real fear of QB's in the 1st round. They are overhyped. There are so few great QB's that the likelihood Ryan is going to be one of them is low. If he was a sure thing, he would go #1 or 2 and someone would trade up. He's not. He isnt our answer.
