Sound like that was the way to go...how much could the mean of the top 5 kickers salaries be? he can get swiped from the team that tagged him for the price of 2 first round picks - a price so high no one realistically expects anyone to pay it... what can happen in situations like Abe and Shaun Alexander from Seattle is the teams work out a deal under the table, with the players agents negotiating new deals with their teams, and the price would be a first round pick or less. The JETS gave a two for Justin McCareins last year, even though he was tagged or RFA'ed in some manner. but as far as Adam V goes - the pats want him and they need him so they wouldn't make any deals... Vinatieri would actually make less money if we gave him the average of the top 5 salaries therefore we have to give him a 20% raise per the franchise tag rules.
