gangreenman
At the end of training camp, the Jets will be moving their Front Offices to the new facility at Florham Park, NJ. Although I think the team will continue to practice at Hofstra for the remainder of the 08 season, they will too be moving to Florham park at the start of next offseason. For those who are interested in attending Training Camp, what effect does this have on your commute to the facilities (especially those fans from the NYC/Westchester area? --its obviously easier for NJ residents and harder for LI residents, lol. Maxman
They play in NJ on Sunday. They should live close by and practice in NJ as well. This is a good thing.

Im not arguing that, I just want to know what effect this has on the commute, especially for people NOT from either LI or NJ.

Old Rogue
Wait. What? I thought they were moving this Summer, even, now. This is from a Cimini article: Jets movin' earlier than expected BY RICH CIMINI DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Friday, April 4th 2008, 4:00 AM The moving fans are on call; the Jets are becoming full-time New Jersey residents sooner than expected. After 40 years at Hofstra, site of their year-round practice facility on Long Island, the Jets have moved up their departure date and will be leaving after training camp, the club announced Thursday. They will be moving to the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, N.J., roughly 30 miles west of Manhattan. Initially, the plan was to make the move next offseason, but construction is ahead of schedule and the football operation will be packing up in late August or early September. One potential glitch: The club doesn't have an exact date, and if the facility isn't ready by the start of the regular season, the team may not want the distraction of an in-season move. Owner Woody Johnson, in a statement released by the team, said the new facility "will offer a competitive advantage for our players and coaches while uniting our entire organization under one roof. It is beneficial for us to move after training camp as soon as the facility is ready." The new headquarters will include four outdoor fields (three natural grass, one artificial turf) and an 86,000-square-foot fieldhouse housing one artificial-turf field. The central training facility is 130,000 square feet, and will be home to 125 employees from the football and corporate departments. Players and team officials already are house hunting in New Jersey.

Old Rogue
So, will the commute from NYC/Westchester be easier, harder, or the same after the move? The only way one could answer that would be to try both drives, but the drive to Florham Park is 50% further. According to Google Maps (and you could have done this), the drive from White Plains to Hempstead is about 40 miles, or 1 hour. From White Plains to Florham Park is about 60 miles, or 1 hour 10 minutes. I have never made the former drive, but the traffic moves well in Northern NJ, and there is not much traffic. I have no idea what conditions could be like coming down the Hutch, and the X-Island Pkwy.
Maxman
wonder what Cimini will do, when this was announced he said he would not go to Jersey with them.. http://www.jetnation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12290&page=2 He did say he won't cover the Jets if they move to NJ. But he also told Smizzy that Cotchery wouldn't be a household name.

BaumerJet
So, will the commute from NYC/Westchester be easier, harder, or the same after the move? Well, with most of them moving here (NJ) already, I would say it will be an easier commute... ...After all, the facility is just of Route 24. BwanaZulia
I only go to training camp once a year, so it won't be a big deal to drive from LIC. Later in life, I would like to go more often, so at that point it will be a pain. Maybe time to rent a house in Florham Park! BZ
