***WARNING*** (No Politics)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sorry, but this is not a friendly reminder that we don't allow politics here on JetNation. so I will make it easier for everybody to follow a simple rule that we have continuously asked from many of you, and you guys know who you are. It's been a pretty lenient rule so far, but boy did you guys take that ball and run with it.

Thank you,

Management

Head for the hills the brain police have arrived.

Actually, I hope this will be enforced. It is July, and I am already sick of the names of the unmentionable 2. From now to November will be unbearable. I need a sanitary from it.

Says "Penny&theJets". Ouch.

What has Clemens done to make you think he can win 9-10 games.

Just because a guy isn't named Chad Pennington doesn't mean he's a good QB. He has a lot of work to do before looking like a competent NFL QB.

If you rewatch the baltimore game in the 4th quater you will see how well Clemens ran the two minute drill. He ran it like manning or brady and we would have scored if it wasnt for Justin "No Hands" Mccariens. He showed some promise last year and good arm strength. He was inaccurate but accuracy comes with time. He will flourish with our new and improved oline which will give him more time to throw and increasing his accuracy. Its time to hand the throne down to clemens we cant have Pennington being the jets starting QB until forever and soon or later were going to have to change QBs, why not sooner? I gurantee that as long as Chad Pennington is he jets starting QB we will never go to the superbowl. Im not saying that Clemens will take us to the superbowl but we have a better chance with him over noodle arm. If Pennington hadnt tore his rotator cuff it would be a complete different story. but pennington is shot he is done. Hes 32 and is not the answer. Clemens may or may not be the answer. I just wanna see what this kid can do with an above average Oline. I really think this kid has what it takes.

Pre-pre-season prediction. 10-6.

Question: how is this team not better than the 2006 team that went 10-6? And they will be facing a similar kind of schedule.

I'll make my actual prediction during the pre-season.

The 10 - 6 team didnt have 4 West coast road games. Those are no picnic for an East coast team. I'll predict NYJ lose 3 of those games.

Plus, the Jets have to face Herm Edwards and the Chiefs.

Yeah, I didn't see Manning or Brady on that drive either. What I saw was Clemens playing as he should have been all game. He is still a big question mark IMO. As for the record, I want to say 11-5 because of the "D". But since we didn't upgrade the QB position, I think it will be more like 9-7 or 8-8. I pray I'm wrong.

10-6. Our schedule is incredibly soft, games well probably lose are: @ patriots, @ chargers, we always lose 1 to the bills, denver could be a loss, @ seattle, and the san fran or titans game could be tougher than we anticipate. this is gonna be Kellen's chance to finally come into his own and gel with the core offensive group. So long as Kellen has a sturdy O line in front of him with an effective ground game, he's gonna be a solid qb for us

Discounting opening day in Miami?

That's fine, I can understand that because we were so awful last year. But don't think you guys will come in there and whip us up and down the field. The new regime is re-installilng the mentality that we don't lose at home in September and October; especially the opener where it'll be tripple digits in temperature. ;)

Our QB situation is bad, yours is worse. The Dolphins don't stand a chance at winning more than 6 games this year.

1: NYJ

2: @ AZ

3: @ NE

4: Bye (0-3)

5: SD

6: @ HOU

7: BAL (1-5)

8: BUF

9: @DEN

10: SEA (2-7)

11: OAK

12: NE

13: @ STL (3-9)

14: @ BUF

15: SF

16: @KC

17: @NYJ (4-12) maybe (5-11)

So through October I have you at 1-5 and I think I'm being generous. I don't really know who you're going to beat. Maybe you beat Arizona or Houston, but both those teams are honestly much better than the Fins and that would be a big step back in the wake of the progress they'd be making. Also both of those are away games, so I don't really know which home games you think they will be winning in Sept/Oct.

wayyy to early to say that, camp is right around the corner and will begin to get a feel for the guys who are going to step it up this season. We know what we have with Chad and I think with this roster he can win a bunch of games, but we dont know what KC is really all about yet which should make the first week of camp very interesting to learn more about his progress. I wont even dare to take a stab at a record yet I just know were better then 4-12.

I agree. This has got to be the year we make progress towards a prolific future with Kellen at the helm. If he falters, then we must get another young guy in there. No more with Chad!

I really don't see how you can say that about any team. In this league you just never know. The roster has had a ton of changes and we could get a few good bounces.

Also, predicting wins and losses in certain games makes no sense either. The favorite doesn't always win ya' know.

I think the Jets and Dolphins will have very similar records this year. 6 or 7 wins, something like that.

Jets this year will go 10-6. Key is to win the games we're suppose to win.Playoffs? Depends on how the other teams do. I'd HATE to go 10-6 and miss them.

If you go 10-6 but beat up on NFC teams, you probably will miss them because with the way the power is shifted in the AFC, if you want to be a 10-6 playoff team, you have to have a strong conference record to boot. Which, in turn, seems difficult because most of your games come against that elite conference.

As for the Jets adding 6 wins to their total I just don't see it. Two of your wins last year were vs. the dreadful Dolphins and your offense is still a major concern. Faneca was a great signing, nothin negative to say there; but I don't se the excitement for the rest of your moves.

Damien Woody was a cast-off from the Detroit line. Yeah he played better at tackle late in the year, but is 4 games enough to annoint him the next great right tackle?

Tony Richardson used to be the most dominating full back in football. Still a good player, but a shadow of his formerself.

Calvin Pace had a good 2007 in a contract year. But he only has 14.5 career sack, not exactly earth beating.

Kris Jenkins is an upgrade over Robertson (but anyone would've been) but Jenkins has health problems. Also, has he ever played in the 3-4? I know Carolina is a 4-3.

And your quarterback situation is as bad as any in the league right now. I just don't see where these 6 extra wins come from.

I was told this was the best Jets board out there.

You're sure making it look bad, man. If you're looking for a pissing match, you're talking to the wrong guy.

We've upgraded so much though and IMO we were a better team than our record indicated last season. We're a much, much better team (on paper anyways) this year.

I agree with the concerns about Woody and Pace, but I'm willing to give them a shot first. Hopefully Woody can maintain his end of season form. I've watched a lot of Cards games from last season and really was very impressed by Pace. So much so that I think he should have gotten pro-bowl consideration (was never going to happen though). He's a decent pass rusher but was exceptional vs the run. I'm more worried about the fact that it was his contract year. I'm not fearful that he's Bryan Thomas II though, I saw enough of him to know he's a better player.

Richardson is still a very good FB, something we didn't have last season. Look at the #'s his previous teams have had running the football. I doubt he's finished yet, Full Backs can play well into their 30's.

Jenkins has been healthy for 2 years, I'm hoping those issues are behind him. What I'm liking about Jenkins is he seems motivated. HE's gotten himself into shape and seems prepared to give 100% for the team. At 28 Jenkins is far from done, He's a prototypical 3-4 NT (Although you're right in saying he's never played there before) and I'm incredibly excited about what he'll bring to our D. What I'm even more excited about is the thought of David Harris playing behind Jenkins. He dominated behind the most pitiful 3-4 NT to ever grace the league so I can't wait to see what he'll be like with Jenkins. I'm expecting special things off our defence this season. Don't forget we also added Vernon Gholston.

The QB situation is not great, Any Jet fan not named ecurb will admit that.I don't think it is as bad as people make out. Chad has proven in the past that he can QB a team to the playoffs, including in 06 when we had a much less talented team. Clemens is completely unproven, it's impossible to judge him off of last seasons disaster alone.

The running game should be good enough to carry the offense some. Jones isn't my favourite player as many on this site know. I don't rate him too highly but he should be able to put up 1200+ yards and 4YPC behind that line, Leon should also get a lot more touches. I'm expecting this team to be very reliant on Defense and Running game, the QB shouldn't be asked to do too much.

I may be over analyzing my team, Fans tend to butter things up some. That being said this team is definetly talented enough to make a playoff push. Whether we can put that talent into practice or not we will find out.

In regards to the Dolphins I expect you guys to be much improved. I'm very worried about your running attack. If Ricky has anything left the tandem of him and Ronnie Brown will be a force. Like the Jets I think it's unfair to judge your QB based on last season. Beck is still unproven like Clemens. I can see the Fins getting 5-6 wins next season which is a big improvement.

Perhaps I can help you understand our optimism.

First off, Every team starts 0-0... to say that our significant upgrades, additions and improvements don't display an added six wins is irrelevant [for two reasons, (1) this is a different team, and (2) we have a different schedule (an easier one) ] But that is all common-sense stuff.

Last season our team lost seven games by 7-pts or less. Your team lost five games by 7-pts or less... Those types of games (I believe) are the type of games that can go either way. The difference between our two clubs is that a 6-win team doesn't make the playoffs, and an 11-win team does.

We didn't just add Faneca. With him we added an improved LT and C. His presence solidifies D-Brick and Mangold, creating one of the strongest left-side OLs in the league. That "connect-three" alone will add a huge boost to our running game; which in it's darkest hour still managed to see Thomas Jones with over 1100 yards. Woody isn't viewed as a "cast-off"; he's a former pro-bowler that presents a significant upgrade over the former starter, Clement, a talent that we didn't even feel the need to keep on roster as a back-up. What does that tell you?

Defensively, Jenkins is more than just a big-body; he's a dominating big-body. One that had coach Gruden thanking (and even hugging) Mangini for taking him out of the NFC-South. Samson Satele will feel like he's playing Wilfork four times this year, because Jenkins has the size, strength and ability to wreck havoc on OL... His addition not only solidifies our 3-4, but instantly improves the other six players we have in our front-seven and creates a pass rush in itself. Expect an improved Sean

Ellis, Kenyon Coleman, David Harris and Co. Because Jenkins will man the middle.

Calvin Pace is more than just a one-year wonder to our team. He is a sizeable upgrade over our former starter Victor Hobson, and the fact that both he and Vernon Gholston are on our roster lights a fire under the ass of Bryan Thomas and gives us three legit outside pass rushers in addition to Bowens, a guy who can make a sack or two... if you remember.

Then of course there's Tony Richardson (to replace Darian Barnes), Bubba Franks (to push Baker), a healthy Chansi Stuckey (to push Brad Smith), Justin Miller (to push for the CB2), and a new OL coach that isn't a jack-ass.

While you can point at the level of talent we have and scoff at their ability to create six additional wins... they are sizeable upgrades over what we had last year and yet we still managed to scrap seven games by a TD or less.

just sayin'... get ready fin-fan. The Jets are ready to play.

The last time Jenkins was healthy and motivated he was the best Defensive Tackle in the league. He dominated like no other. If he can regain that form I have no doubt in my mind he will work out great as a 3-4 NT. I have confidence in him to deliver.

Even the worst case scenario with Jenkins is an upgrade over Robertson.

I agree. His size alone will Command double teams which is the job requirement of the 34 NT. Drob's motor attempted to accomplish that feat but he was too often able to be contained by one lineman, or by an OG's chip block.

Our run-defense is definitely improved.

BTW, irish, nice write up. I started writing mine minutes before you posted yours. ;)

D-Rob was never ever going to succeed in the 3-4. Mangini really should have ditched him earlier than he did. It will be fun watching a position which was our biggest liability potentially turning out to be our greatest strength.

Funny how that could happen at LG too.

Oh well, this is your guys' site, no need for me to get worked up. :)

You wouldn't have known this, but Jetlag was kind enough to provide an analysis of various models of home kidney dialysis machines for my my maternal grandmother. He went out of his way to contact companies located as far away as the Czech Republic and eastern Switzerland to get me the most current--and potentially life saving--statistical analyses and testing reports. Thanks again, Jetlag. You are just aces in my book, buddy. FYI: We just put in our order for the RenalClenz 4680. According to her physician, you--as usual--were right on the money with your recommendation. Everyone in my family is forever in your debt, especially Nona Graziella.

Borgo, it wasn't really that much trouble. Dialysis machines happen to be a hobby of mine for years now.

You should check out DialysisNation.com. I'm a mod over there. Plenty of sexy explicit kidney pics if you're into that kind of thing.

You say it wasn't much trouble, but I--and my family--know the effort you put in, especially the tele-conferencing with Dr. Zeruben. No offense, but that guy's accent is impossible to decipher at times. Is it Slavic or a throwback to an Austro-Prussian dialect? Since you speak both, it probably was a somewhat facile exercise for you.

As for DialysisNation, I have only been on it once or twice. You can appreciate that when a family member is going through such an ordeal, you just don't want to venture onto a site whose main thread topics include: "When to Pull the Cord and Order Take-Out?"; "Ureter: Duct or Vessel?"; "Anal Sex After Transplant, The Myths"; "Why Your Next Three Bean Salad Should Exclude the Kidney Variety", and "Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson's Tips for a Healthy Renal System". It just consumes almost every aspect of your day as it is. Since you are a mod over there, please let me know if you get any pix of chicks with really hot bladders.
