Does a loss to the Dolphins mean the season is over?

Will losing to the Dolphins be an omen that the season is dommed?

No the Dolphins are much improved. I don't think the Jets will lose to them. It would stink. Not as much as losing your best defensive player in the pre-season. But it would still stink.

The Patriots lost to the Bills a few years ago 31-0 after losing Lawyer Milloy to them. They then went on to win the Super Bowl that year iirc.

So no, it won't mean much, but it will make the media melt down against us. Which might be good, since then we can try the whole us against the world thing the Pats do every season. Also maybe we'll find a cameraman that way.

Why say hurtful things Max?

How was that hurtful? I was referring to the year the Jets lost Marvin Jones before a scrimmage game was even played. Someone hit his knee as he was on the sideline in practice.

It was terrible.

No, for several reason.

First and foremost, losing one game doesn't end the season.

Second, the Dolphins are much better team than anyone here gives them credit. Yes the Jets lost several of there games last year by less than a TD. The Dolphins lost a boat load by less than a TD. They were a much better team than there record. In my opinion the '07 Fins were a better team than the '07 Jets although both were better than there record. Also the Dolphins have done a lot to improve. BP is a turn around specialist.

Third, many teams start out the season shaky and improve as they go. There is every reason to think the Jets will struggle early and improve. Your QB, who has natural talent and is a future HOF is NOT a quick study and he arrived in camp late. And it takes time for a WR and QB to get into a groove. The Jets offense will likely struggle at the beginning of the season and improve as Farve become more comfortable with the playbook and receivers.

I am not making a prediction, but it would not surprise me in the least for the Jets to start out 0-3 AND get a wildcard spot.

You're not scoring 31 points on us. That much I can guarantee. Our first team has allowed 3 points this pre-season.

Good point.

I love to see people take up an interest in football. Did you pick the Dolphins to be your team because you like their team colors? Or think Dolphins are amazing creatures?

Not the way you want to do it, though.

I think the Jets will win. No coaching staff knows Pennington better than the Jets', and any casual observer of the Jets can tell you that Pennington gets rattled when he gets pressured. There's no doubt that the Jets will be bringing their newfound heat against the fish.

It's Ricky that scares me more than anyone else on that defense, but I have to say that I was pretty impressed with the Jets rushing defense last night. It wasn't great, but it was good. I look forward to seeing how they gameplan. I think we got a glimpse last night. I think it was important to the Jets to win last night's game.

I think it's more likely that the Jets score 31 than the fish score 17. The Jets won't be looking past them on opening day, but will know they can't afford a loss there.

With all the moves and money the jets spent to get better, its as close to a must win as there is because who its against . Miami bearly won a game last year. The presure is on the JETS to win , the media will have a field day because of Chad and the players know that. 0-1 with pats, chargers and cardinals before bye doesnt look to promising. 0-1 or 1-0 isnt the biggest issue, Heads are gonna role if jets dont have a winning season this year.

Wow..a Garcia-less explosive Bucs offense, the Jags and the juggernaut that is the Chiefs have been shut down by the almighty dolphins.

The Jets put up 40 on that sorry defense last year, and since then has lost Taylor and Thomas.

31 is more than possible.

Remember this Dolphin fans.

Pennington ALWAYS looks good in the pre-season. When teams play vanilla defenses, he plays well. He's smart enough to figure them out. When teams GAMEPLAN against Pennington, and hit him, he gets ansy, and he can't expose the 9 in the box strategy. Also remember, in the "big game", Pennington gets nervous. This will be a big game for him.

our defense will have more of an advantage playing against pennington then pennington will have playing against our defense.

if the dolphins beat the jets in week 1 there won't be enough fish nets in new york to catch all the dead bodies floating in the hudson river that monday morning.
