Favre is making bad decisions

I know that the coaching staff is going to get ton of criticism for their pass happy approach, but Favre's execution has been very poor and opportunities are being left out on the field.

Dustin Keller was open for a TD on both the 4th quarter pick 6 and the near pick 6 plays. Favre is not reading the defense correctly, and he is throwing into double coverage way too often. He has been a large part of our struggles the past few weeks.

The final comeback drive may be the spark that takes our performance to the next level for the remainder of the season. The team showed some emotion on that drive which we have not seen for a long time. I hope Favre can pull it together soon or we are in for a rough season if the consistency and execution do not improve.

They looked pretty emotional on Jones rushing TD. Then they threw another pick 6. At least the D has been forcing the 3 and outs when needed.

I believe that INTs 1 and 3 were receiver errors, guys giving up on plays. Maybe not. But INT 2 was dopey, pure Favre. And the one that Johnson dropped was gruesome.

I am not going to defend Farve. He has looked a little old the last 2 weeks and has made some scary bad decisions. BUT this effin overpaid O-line is going to get the poor bastardo killed if they keep pass blocking like this.

In their defense... Favre holds on to the ball for a LONG time... 1 or 2 seconds makes a HUGE difference in the NFL.

The last INT was awful.

But it wasn't even Favre's worst throw or worst decision. On a third and one in the third quarter, Favre threw deep to Cotchery in double coverage when had he looked to his left, he would have seen Jones release wide open into the flat with 30 yards of daylight in front of him.

Most of the blame for today's performance is on Favre, not the coaching staff.

Agreed..

Our two biggest issues on this team are

Favre & Pass defense

Atleast one of them needs to get fixed real soon..

Correction:

The three biggest issues on the team are:

Favre, Pass defense, and offensive game plan

The last 2 weeks, the offensive game plan has been poor. Mini-Schott is doing a poor job in game awareness. He nearly got Favre killed to open up against the Raiders when he failed to adjust to the Raider's counter of using the blitz against the spread, then he uses no playaction at all. Today, it was the pass heavy approach and the spread on 3& short.

Luckilly, these 3 things are correctible in my book.

This team needs to get their act in gear pronto! The hardest part of the season

is starting next week. Brett Favre doesn't have the "system" down and who

knows if it's even any good to begin with? I'd really like to see more slants.

Those are pretty reliable and Favre is great at throwing them. The coaches really

really need to stop trying to out-smart the other team and try being so creative

all the time and just play rock solid smart football. There's nothing wrong with pass

plays 25 yards and shorter and running it a bit more often. In other words,

play more like Green Bay does/did. The GB style offense is simply better than

this one. Start utilizing more of it. :)

It's really a disaster, as soon as the ball leaves his hands, it looks like a mistake so often.

I don't know what it is... because whether or not he 'knows' the offense, he should 'know the colors' and not throw the ball right at the team in red and white, which is exactly what happened.

Hopefully they have a good film session about this.

I'll tell you what I'd like to see in terms of an offensive game plan, and you all can tell me why this is wrong. I'd like to see us retreat a bit (but not entirely) into that smashmouth offense we were thinking about before Favre. Depending on opponent and conditions, my base game plan would look something like this:

40% Jones rushing.

15% Washington rushing.

5% Chatham/Other rushing.

10% Washington/Coles/Cotchery Screen

10% Quick outs/Slants

10% Play Action

10% Brett being Brett
