DepressedJetsFan
With rookie contracts getting out of hand, I feel like teams should be protected with a so called "get out of jail free card" in which they can cut rookies after two years with no cap hit. If a top 10 draft pick gets hurt or simply can't play teams should be protected. I know its early for VG, but lets face it... The guy can't play NFL football.. at least not right now. Is it really fair that we are going to be stuck with his horrible contract for six years? Chris Long had 2 sacks today against New England.. Mr. Gholston is 5th string. I'm sorry.. What a horrible horrible pick... He makes the other two busts D'Brick and D'Rob look like world beaters.. At least they play... I know I am going to get killed in this thread, but cmon... Have you ever seen a #6 draft pick buried this deep in the depth charts?? He could arguably be on the practice squad..

Would you rather us be in a situation where we don't have a Pace and Thomas playing well and just have one of those guys and Gholston out there?? BEcause we could throw gholston out there for 90%+ of the defensive snaps and let him stumble into a sack. I'm ok with letting him ride the pine and learn as long as we are getting solid play from our two current OLB's, which we are. Chris long as come on in the last two weeks and up until that poiint had be struggling pretty mightily; the point is, he gets to play a significant amount more than gholsten. Just be patient. And as for the whole money aspect, the only thing i would agree with is a rookie salary cap like in the nba. It is ridiculous how much they get paid, but having a "get out of jail free card" is not the answer in my eyes. and lastly..D'brick is more certainly not a bust. He was the smart pick during mangini's first draft and i still think he is. He has made significant strides this year and has been one of the best players on our Oline.
