Watching Football with your significant other

usually I am not a big fan of watching sports with chicks. I have several close female friends and none of them have an interest in sports and its nice. My fiance is a casual sports fan and cheers (mildly) for the Philly Eagles, Boston red Sox (i know, why am I marrying her?), and Georgia college football. Yesterday we did something together we have never done - watch NFL all afternoon together. We watched a lot of the Philly-Atlanta game and then watched a lot of the Giants - Steelers game. Some observations:

1) she was only engaged in the action when big plays happened or touchdowns were scored. She did read a few chapters of a book she liked.

2) her attraction to Brian Westbrook almost made me jealous. Almost.

3) During the Giants-Steelers game she made this comment "You know, this is good tv. The way this game is being broadcast and the way the teams are playing are like watching a really good tv show."

4) It didn't suck. She asked me like maybe six questions over four or so hours and they weren't dumb questions. I may keep her.

Thoughts on watching games with sig others?

I love it because I talk a lot and I try to explain to her what the defense is doing or what I would call in that situation and she listens and learns players names and what their good at. I watch her reality shows, she watches sports, it works out. Plus the fact that she can name more then 10 Jets players not including Favre is the reason I knew she was "the one".

I do it all the time with my fiance too. I'm so lucky that she's a football junkie. The first 3 years we dated I played for a flag team back in my hometown. We would drive for hours just her and I talking football. She went over my playbook and learned how I would construct a game plan. Then she'd sit for 3 hours even in the rain watching us play. On the way home she'd ask various questions about why we did that instead of this etc. By the time we'd get home USC was usually on so we'd sit together and watch them. On Sunday we sit together watching the Bills and Jets. The only problem I have is that she is a rabid Bills fan. It can get pretty heated around here at those times. So next week I'm watching the game with a bunch of fellow Jets fans.

Sounds like us. That's just great isn't it Vic ? I love Sundays for that reason.

Once you marry her those good times are over. She will disown your favorite sports team and not want anything to do with you or your team on game day.I dated a chic who was so into the NYJETS she would have dyed her pubic hair green to please me.Some days I think I should have married her instead.

First off - I love my wife dearly

that being said she is a freakin jinx -- I will be watching a Jets game and whenever she walks in something bad always happens - its uncanny but I never ever said a word -

until yesterday

WE score the go ahead TD with one minute remaining and who walks in -- In my mind I am like NOOOOOOO - she sits down next to me and I had to say it -- if something bad happens I am not talking to you for a week - she wonders why and I explain it - now she gets pissed off at me saying I was being silly -- 1st play defensive penalty of Jenkins then 2 quick completions the Chiefs are moving the ball -- she says ok I get the picture and walks out -- disaster avoided

any other game not involving the Jets she is more than welcome to join me and she actually has a good knowledge of the game she is just not that big a fan

Hell yes. The good thing is she was semi into football prior to me and now she bleeds green. For example Sunday after I was screaming at my computer after the 3rd Favre pick she just went to the fridge and got me another beer. She knows exactly what she's getting into with me. The other highlight was she was in the kitchen making herself lunch when Leon broke that big run and all I said was "DAAAAMN that dude is fast, TD for us." her response was "Yea, little #29 is pretty fast, I like Leon better then TJ". Sunday's rule in my house. The next step is baseball.

Are you KIDDING me? Hand over your man-card immediately! During football viewing a woman should be busy in the kictchen - making you snacks, fetching you beer and keep her mouth shut. What kind of a wuss are you?

:confused0058:

Or on her knees, of course. What's wrong with that guy?

I used to think that women shouldn't watch the games. Then over the past few years I have met several women who are so passionate and know so much about the Jets that I don't think that way anymore.

Especially since TaborJet sits next to me know at the games. Teaching him all the rules and explaining all the calls is tiring. And he is a guy (allegedly).

I absolutely love the fact that my wife has no interest in sports. It means no asking to go to the games (took her to a preseason game once) and no asking annoying questions about what/when/where/why/how when I'm trying to watch at home.

no kidding! Whew! That way you can play beer pong and check out a Joebaby Tailgate.....woooohoooooooooooo!!!!!

Where does my post say anything about hot women and wild parties? I think sometimes you infer what you desire. You really ought to show me a little more respect than that. ;)

Plus, it's not like I don't know what you're doing. You're hoping that Joebaby will see this and jump into this make-pretend fray so people will post in the thread and you get your bonus this month. Shoot! You only have four days to make your quota!

I don't get the whole passive-aggressive thing. If you have something to say or wish to insult or berate someone just come out and say it. If you want to call someone sexist call them sexist. This whole attempting sarcasm and humor thing is killing me. Stop trying to be funny, it's impossible for you to do and not because you're a women just because you're not funny.
