afosomf
It is time to put Favre on bench and play either Ratliff/Clemens we need to determine if Clemens or ratliff can play, favre will not be back next year so why waste draft picks on him I was for favre coming, but it is clear that he is hurt and not completely focused as a jet...and it will be time to move on so he gets one more week from me

afosomf
Lol, the fallout of the Manmuffin benching the legend 8 games in would be very amusing.. 1) i do not believe favre was ever in game shape 2) the game vs KC, he looked like JWN in a ewes uni, that was a sad day for me. it was worth a try, let's see what he does this week
Jetlag
If Mangini had the balls to bench Favre and end his consecutive games streak this team would give up on him right on the spot.

Jetlag
i would have more respect for EM if he had balls i concur..not likely i wanna see ratliff play I think we both know this will ever happen. But just to add in, how would this team feel if the FO cut Chad, their lovable southern boy, to bring in Favre, one of the best to play the game, and then benched him for Brett Ratliff(who)?? - I actually like Ratliff a lot and would love to see what he has, but this year he wouldn't have the teams support and could actually end up being counterproductive for his career. aec4
nope Well it should have been.. because if you're serious, then really we can't respect many more of your opinions. You'd lose the ENTIRE lockerroom if you did this.

Garb
I say go for it Not so much because I fear Lord Farve - but for ONCE - ESPN would have a knew whipping boy: The Jets. Can you imagine the beating Manjudas will get in print and on-air? Surely you know this will never happen. The media backlash would be tremendous. Woody Johnson is trying to sell PSL's. Mangini only makes "tough" decisions out of spite - or when he has revenge on his mind. Remember Pete Kendall? That was a Singletary-like move, no? The only way Favre is on the bench is if he's "hurt." He very well may be hurt - but he always plays hurt, right? Do you think Lord Favre will let little Mangini get in the way of his consecutive starting streak? No way! And, beware the wrath of Deanna. Personally, I though the Favre/Mangini marriage was all wrong from the start. Mangini is a control freak. A systematic guy who fancies boxing videos. Farve is a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of guy who fancies his own highlight videos. Mangini comes from a "team first" background - mixed in with a fowl penchant for spitefulness. Lord Favre is all about him - mixed in with a fowl penchant for spitefulness - just ask Green Bay. All that said - the Jets DO have enough talent to get to the playoff's. (Although I think you all highly over-evaluate your wide-outs). Bottom line, if/when the Jets win tommorrow, all will be well in Jets-land until the next loss. Plus, don't feel so bad. As a Pats fan I fear Peyton Manning's breakout game will come tomorrow nite. Another Prime time beatdown. Joy!

Larz
if favre continues to play like donkey balls...just sayin i hear ya, but we are paying him $ 12 mill, we dumped penny for him, we gotta go with him this year with that said, mangini is a useless motivator, so this team plays to the level, the record and reputation of the competition so I expect a really good effort sunday

I wouldn't expect him to pull favre at 4-4 unless he's injured. we signed up for favre ball & I suspect we're all in with it. I think this Favre kid is capable of a decent game again
Vudu
Stop being emotional. Favre is our best chance to win now. You gotta take the good with the bad. Kellen Clemens is sh#t, and Brett Ratliff looked great in Preseason but is unproven. BTW, we're not losing to the Bills this weekend.

Irish Jet
It would be FAR too early to do that. However if some people are suggesting that Mangini would 'lose' the locker room if he eventually did bench Favre to end 'the streak' well then we need a new locker room, because that would be absolutely PATHETIC for a group of professional athletes to give up on a young QB in a dead season all for this HOF QB who's been with the team for not even one full season. You'd lose the ENTIRE lockerroom if you did this. All you people whining and crying about losing the lockeroom are funny. You think any of those guys give a **** about Brett Favre and his game streak? You think they give a **** about how well he played in Green Bay ten years ago? Please, They give a **** about themselves and their paychecks. If EM benches Brett the only thing that might happen is that they would see it as him giving up on this season. He wouldn't lose respect of the locker room or anything like that. These are grown men and professionsals.
NY JETS 29
BRETT FAVRE WILL NOT AND WON'T BE BENCHED AT ANYTIME THIS SEASON. YOU GUYS NEED TO BE KIDDING ME WITH THIS STUFF. WERE A WIN AWAY FROM EITHER BEING TIED FOR 2ND IN THE DIVISION OR POTENTIALLY AT A 3 WAY TIE AND IN THE PLAYOFF HUNT AND YOUR TALKING ABOUT BENCHING FAVRE THE DAY BEFORE A BILLS GAME?!? ITS DOWN RIGHT LAUGHABLE!
war ensemble
Once we get 8 losses, put Ratliff in there. I'm not a type of guy to give up on a season when we're 4-4. Hopefully we won't have to worry about this situation at all though.

NY JETS 29
If Eric Mangini benched Brett Favre at any point this season he would never get another coaching job in the NFL, period. He already is top 5 hated coaches in the NFL. It won't happen, plus what is going to draw a average fan to a cold december game vs. the Dolphins with a losing record Clemens or Ratliff or Brett is his last game potentially. I mean come on. This thread it out there.

Were 4-3 and in the mix for a division title or wildcard berth. He has two and to some three sub par games in a row, but if you sit there and thought you were really getting the Favre of 2007 then you were being nieve. You have to take the bad with the good with him and yet were still not mentioning that when he had to he led us into the endzone for a game winning score last weekend. I'm not happy with his play right now at all, but its BRETT FAVRE and some of us are talking about benching him? He doesn't deserve that and Clemens or Ratliff wouldn't be any better right now with how the offense has been called.
NY JETS 29
I'm just amazed that we thought Brett would be genious after playing with the Packers all those years and had one good seaon in his last three....IMO I'm seeing exactly what I thought I would from Brett right now and the Jets.
