jetophile
Never really cared for Richard Gere, although 'Days of Heaven' is worth seeing every which way but loose. It's something David Lean would have filmed. Shots of those fields of wheat, what a visually stunning film. That film is in my top 20, but I admit it's partly because I love me some Sam Shepard. Make it a must see, but seeing it on the big screen is where it's at.

jetophile
There are only a couple of Gere films that I really like. Breathless Internal Affairs Primal Fear Well, I guess my point is that his presence is incidental in 'Days of Heaven'. It wouldn't have mattered much who was in the role, because the story is told through the beaten down eyes of his numb kid sister. Not a flaw that every adult seems bland in their emotions. Not a flaw at all. I re-watched that movie about four years ago and walked away with an even bigger appreciation of it. I guess you can tell us all how that gerbil rumor started, by the way. I haven't seen it. I'll have to check it out. As for the gerbil, it's not a rumor. I have pics.
