How smart is Leon to put one foot out of bounds....

...on the punt. He is an amazing player and SMART! I cant remember anyone else ever making that play. Saved us alot of yards on that one.

It was a kickoff but you are right that was very smart. I liked how he had to explain the rule to the ref.

I guess this coaching staff does some stuff right.

That's coaching. No one innately knows that. It was clearly taught, and practiced, under the watchful eye of our best coach.

That doesn't take away that Leon made a great play on it.

And I know I was like 99% of Jet fans saying what the hell is he doing. Then when he started talking to the ref, it made sense.

Great preparation by the coaches today.

The proof that it's coaching and they all know it is that a few guys were jumping up and down telling the ref to drop the flag. I'm pretty sure Brad Smith was one of them.

Great point Sperm. That play was HUGE. Starting a drive at your own 8 or the 40. 32 BIG yards of difference.

Talk about a player with his head screwed on straight. The play where he stepped out of bounds and then grabbed the ball on the kickoff was damn impressive. Nice job, probably one of the smartest plays we have seen this year form any team/any game.

You don't see a player do that too often...nice job Leon!

I had never even heard of this rule.

Either he is really smart or a good coach told him about this scenario.

They are talking about it right now on ESPN.

Mortensen broke it down and saying how smart it was

A true returner like leon should know this. Wes Welker did it like 2 years ago. its like rewarding a dude for NOT goin to jail. im still pissd we lost to the stupid raiders, we're obviouly a contender and above that.

It's about time the coaches looked good. because lately, everyone here has been wondering how long it will take to fire these goons.

precisely.

It also wasn't anything revolutionary. It's been done a bunch of times.

Missed the game for a Buffett Concert, please explain what he did and what the situation was.

Thanks

R.Lindell kicks 62 yards from BUF 30 to NYJ 8, out of bounds. L.Washington was out of bounds when first touching ball; ball considered out of bounds by rule.

the kickoff was bouncing along the sideline but wasn't going to make it out of bounds. Leon placed one foot on the chalk and then stretched for the ball. The refs originally ruled it as ball at the 8, but Leon argued successfully that one foot was out of bounds. The ref agreed and threw the flag for kickoff out of bounds.

That was Whestoff's coaching because Chad Morton did the same exact thing a couple of years ago after he went to the Skins. They asked him after that game about the play and he said Whestoff taught him that.

It was funny how the ref screwed it up in the beginning. I remembered the Morton play and was screaming "Penalty!!!" when I saw the ref going to mark the ball out at the 15 yard line.

I agree with them as far as "stupid rule" goes. It is a stupid rule.

They're obviously not NFL fans, though, if they haven't seen this before or know the rule.

Well Im an NFL fan and I dont recall ever seeing a play like that before, and I wasnt even aware that you could do that.
