Need too be in...

1. Jenkins

2. Leon for special teams

3. Revis

Should get in...

1. Calvin Pace

Could get in..

1. Shaun Ellis

2. Rhodes

3. Mangold

Thoughts?

Revis and Jenkins should be locks to get in, and Jenkins should be a lock to start as well. I don't see what Leon has done so special on ST that makes him a lock to get in by any means. I think Calvin Pace, Nick Mangold, and Kerry Rhodes should all get in before Leon thus far...

Wouldn't be shocked to see Favre get in on name alone either, yeah, hes had a terrible season thus far...but find an AFC QB that hasn't. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Manning and Favre in the Pro Bowl for the AFC.

Jenkins and Revis absolutely. Jenkins has a very good shot, but Revis age and the team he plays for likely push him back another year before he gets the recognition. Other than that, while they may be good players, I'm not sure about the rest of them. Leon isn't getting the TDs so far this year (which always weighs heavily in voting, understandably so), Rhodes and Pace aren't making enough big plays to get the recognition (whether or not thats fair is a different debate) and Mangold still has the issue of talented mainstays in the AFC who are going to continually get in over him.

Honestly, beyond Revis and Jenkins, the only other one on my list would be Shaun Ellis. He leads all 3-4 DL in sacks in the entire league. He is tied for 8th overall in the league in sacks and tied for 4th amongst DL (4 of the top 8 are OLBs). The only DL in the AFC with more sacks than Ellis is Mario Williams. Ellis is absolutely having a Pro Bowl season and as a 3-4 DL, the numbers he has are staggering.

No love for Ellis?? He's 5th in the AFC in sacks, and second for DEs in sacks...only behind Super Mario.

Wow, didn't realize his stats were that improved. I think a lot of that has to do with the fear of Kris Jenkins in the middle and Calvin Pace on the opposite side of him. Between the 2 blocker that Jenkins takes up, and the extra attention Pace requires, you see teams have to give either BThomas or Ellis a one on one opportunity. So far, they've both done a good job taking advantage.

I honestly think Revis and Jenkins deserve to make it. Will they ? Well I think Revis will for sure. Jenkins ? maybe. ::GoJets:

What a post whore.

Look for Joey Porter to make the Pro Bowl at outside Linebacker, so that might affect whether or not Pace has an opporunity to go.

Know one here really gives a rats behind about Porter or any other Dolfag despite your rather feeble attempt.

Jenkins & Revis will be there without a doubt, possibly could make a case for Pace, Rhodes & Leon as the season progresses. Joshua Cribbs actually returned one to the house yesterday, that will help him vs. Leon. I could see Favre being one of the 3 QB's as well. The 3 QB spots are between:

Favre

Manning

Roethlisberger

Cutler

Rivers

Pennington, believe it or not

With the way he has played and the difference he has made it would be a crime of Jenkins does not make it.

If that list is the criteria...for me the most deserving are...

Rivers

Cutler

Chad

Penny wont get it over Favre or Manning. Name alone really does mean a lot in pro bowl voting.

Hes also #2 in AFC in passer rating, #4 in % (Favre is #1 lol), 4th in yards, 2nd in YPA, #2 in INTs thrown...

And his TDs are still #8 in the AFC...ahead of Edwards and David Gerrard

#8 not in the league, but the conference, and people think he has a shot in hell at the Pro Bowl? As for your examples, Edwards missed almost an entire game and has been the definition of a game manager, nothing more, and Garrard has been crap this season. Neither of them are anywhere near a Pro Bowler this season either, so whats your point? When a team is consistently taking the ball out of their QBs hands in big play spots, that hardly screams "Pro Bowl QB" to me. I mean come on, he's averaging less than 1 TD per game for crying out loud!

People are suddenly all impressed because Chad has gotten past his beyond God awful 2007 back to the endlessly mediocre nobody he was for years prior. As I said in another thread, Chad gets SO much credit for playing "good for Chad" and its generally when he's just coming off a complete disaster of a year (e.g., "good" in 2004 after 2003, 2006 after 2005, 2008 after 2007). Unfortunately, when measured up to the rest of the league, even those years show him to be a mediocre at best QB.

The Pro-Bowl is a meaningless game that is played after the season, I won't mind if Jenkins doesn't get a single vote.

I would...

The players get paid, and I like when Jets players get recognized for their achievements...they should be able to suit up w/ the league's best...too many times Jets players have flown under the radar and its crap...

Cutler is playing himself out of any chance after a hot start. His rating the past 3 weeks is 77, 64 and 60. If he turns it around, maybe, but he needs to do it soon.

Manning only has to be decent and he'll coast in based on past performance.

Rivers is having a pretty solid season and is probably a lock if he keeps it up.

Pennington has 7 TDs in 8 weeks. No shot IMO unless he gets up near 4,000 yards in which case we'll all die from shock and it won't matter.

Roethlisberger hasn't done anything this season.

Favre is like Cutler - if he keeps throwing more picks than TDs even his reputation won't be enough.

So for now, I see Rivers definitely, Manning probably, and whoever plays better down the stretch between Cutler and Favre.

You don't need to be in the Pro-Bowl to be recognized, you mean Rhodes was recognized that year where they selected John Lynch over him? Defenses were frightened of him.

Kerry Rhodes dominated him in every single category and yet he wasn't even the backup. That explains how meaningless and stupid the game is.

Probowl selection does help with HOF selection. But primarily it is a name recognition contest. I expect both Manning and Farve to go even though neither is having a particularly great year.

As former Jets head coach, also former Patriots head coach, former Giants head coach and former Cowboys head coach once said, it takes threes years longer for a player to be selected than he should be selected and he stays three years past when he should.
