DMaynard
This sucks!!! Just because they shut down the Bills' running game last week, don't think for a minute this isn't going to hurt. Jenkins is great, but he can't be King Kong every week. And Bowens is horrible in pass coverage.
flgreen
Maybe it isn't as bad as the other article seemed Jets' Harris is out vs. Rams by Dave Hutchinson Wednesday November 05, 2008, 12:22 PM Jets leading tackler, inside linebacker David Harris, will miss his second straight game with a left groin injury, coach Eric Mangini said this morning during his news conference. Harris, who was injured in the second quarter in the victory over the Chiefs two weeks ago, recently saw a specialist and the injury is a bit more severe that orginally thought, acccording to someone with knowliedge of the injury. That person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he's not authorized to speak for Harris or the Jets. It's not believed that Harris will require surgery. Veteran David Bowens will again replace Harris in the starting lineup. He had five tackles and a sack vs. the Bills. S Eric Smith (concussion) didn't practice today and he too is expected to miss his second straight game. TE Bubba Franks (hip) also didn't practice. The bright side will be that the guys behind BArton and Harris will get some work in, and Gholston will get some work in making the team stronger in the long run... DMaynard
Harris isnt all that hot in coverage either... no 3-4 LB really is... its not their strength... No, but better than Bowens, who is horrendous. With all of the former DE type OLBers this team has (Pace, Thomas, Gholston, Bowens), I think a priority next year is to pick up a couple of LBers who excel at pass coverage for obvious pass situations. or improve the depth in the secondary so that we can play with 6 or 7 competent DBs in those situations. jetsrule128
http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/blog/ Not good news on Harris Eric Mangini wasn't specific on the exact nature of the setback - and didn't use that word - but there's no other way to interpret what he said in updating the condition of linebacker David Harris, who missed last week's game with a groin injury. "A little bit longer shot," Mangini said, asked to compare Harris' chances of playing this week to what they were last week. Mangini talked about "some things that we're doing," in relation to Harris, though he wouldn't say if some kind of surgery was involved. "I'm not going to talk about any of the specifics," Mangini said. "I'll just characterize it the way I characterized it." Harris was on the exercise bike during last week's practices but wasn't anywhere to be found today. I've said it before, I don't think Harris has been healthy all season. It's no one's fault, he just never seemed right from the time of the hamstring problem in training camp. More to come.
SoFlaJets
is it about time that Gholston starts earning that big money he's making? I mean it's fun to see him get run over on KO returns and all but...

He was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week, a worthy honor after his three-tackle, two-sack, multiple-pressure game last Sunday against the Bills. jetsrule128
Things will continue working themselves out at inside linebacker despite David Harris' groin injury. Mangini wouldn't go into specifics but didn't sound optimistic about a return to action for Harris against the Rams, although he didn't think "the Hitman's" absence was a long-term thing. "I don't think the timeframe is really set one way or the other," he said. "We're just moving forward, trying to get him back as quickly as we can." The same can be said for S Eric Smith, whose concussion kept him out of the Buffalo game
124
Honestly I was very happy with Bowens' play (5 tackles, one sack) and I think we were all quick to over-rate Harris. We'll see.

Jenkins is great, but he can't be King Kong every week. And Bowens is horrible in pass coverage. Exactly. Bowens is only average as a defensive end and horrible as a linebacker. The first TD by the bills was completely Bowen's fault. He was completely out of position. We have problems if Harris is out for a long time.
