flgreen
11:29 Rich will be here at noon, but you can start submitting your questions now. Your comments won't appear until they are selected by the moderator. 12:00 Greetings, fans. Thanks for stopping by. With eight games in the books, the Jets are making the turn. Should be very interesting, especially the next six days. 12:02 [Comment From miked4222] Rich, do you think the Jets have any interest in signing D'angelo Hall for the rest of the season? 12:04 Yes, I do think the Jets are somewhat interested in Hall. Tannenbaum can't help himself; he checks into everything. I strongly doubt they'll get him because Hall is looking for a long-term deal and I think the Jets like their long-term prospects with Revis and Lowery. But, make no mistake, Tanny is kicking the tires. The last time he walked into a showroom and kicked the tires, he came away with a classic car - Favre. So you never know. Personally, I think it would be a bad move. Hall is - how can I put this? - not the kind of guy that would fall in line with Mangini's core values. 12:05 [Comment From DanNJ] Rich- I know last week you picked the Bills to win the game, but realistically what percentage chance did you give the Jets to go into Buffalo & win that game? 12:08 You're right, I picked the Bills, keeping alive my lousy record. I thought it was 60-40, Bills. I mean, I didn't think the Jets had no shot. After all, the Bills were starting to leak some oil (sorry, another car analogy). It's just that the Jets hadn't demonstrated any consistency. Now they have. 12:08 [Comment From jetsjetsjets] Are the jets changing anything in their routine, before or after the game, being that its a short week next week? 12:10 Good question. Every week, after practice on Friday, the coaches take a look at a preliminary scouting report on the following week's opponent. That's routine. This week, they'll take a longer look on Friday - not the players, mind you, the coaches. On Monday, instead of an off day if they win, it'll be a practice day. 12:11 [Comment From "doc" from Monticello] What's the mood in Jet Camp this week? 12:13 Tough question. The "mood" often varies from locker to locker. Some guys like to joke, some guys are always serious. What I'm saying is, nothing struck me about the mood. Next week, however, I'm sure they'll be an added edge. 12:13 [Comment From Ray] Good afternoon Rich Any news on whether or not Mr Jackson will be playin for the Rams on Sunday?? Thank you. 12:16 We should know something on Mr. Jackson around 4 today. Speaking with Jim Haslett on the conference call Wednesday, he made it quite clear that he was upset that Jackson pulled himself out of last week's game. Haslett said Jackson will have to make it through an entire practice before he activates him for the game. Jackson didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, so today is the key day. 12:17 [Comment From Brock, NY] Rich - a win this weekend will come down to sacks on Bulger and stopping the run. If the offense is able to score on this "loose" defense, the jets should win easily. With that said, the jets usually blow these games in the 4th qtr. Your comments? 12:19 The Rams have allowed 26 sacks, so, yes, I think the Jets should be able to apply a lot of heat. As for the 4th quarter, you're wrong. For a change, the Jets have been a good fourth-quarter team. They're 4-1 in one-possession games. A year ago, they were 3-9. 12:20 [Comment From Bob from Great Neck] Rich, with their record now at 5 - 3, how many games do you think the Jets can win this season? I count 5 very winnable games but you never know with the Jets. 12:24 I think they'll definitely have to win 10 to make the playoffs. They should beat the Rams and SF, but I wouldn't be so quick to chalk up too many others as easy wins. I think they can win in NE. In Tenn? No way. Denver will be tough; they can throw the ball and the Jets' secondary is spotty. Buffalo and Miami will be dogfights. Seattle is a mess, but that's no gimme in their place. That also will be an emotional game for the Hawks - Holmgren's final home game. 12:24 [Comment From IRA] Rich, Do you think the new practice facility has helped the Jets get ready for games or would they be the same if they had stayed at Hofstra? 12:27 I wouldn't know; the Jets haven't even bothered to give the media a tour of the meeting rooms, etc. Can you believe that? I believe they've practiced in the field house only once, which pisses off some players. When it rains, like this week, they still practice outside. Has it helped them? There's no way to tell. It should help them in the offseason, when they recruit free agents...if they have any money left to spend. 12:28 [Comment From Doug in Rhode Island] Hey Rich. It's been AFC domination for the past few years, but now the only AFC team that appears to have any shot at being great is the Titans, and I'm not buying that? If the AFC wins the Super Bowl this year do you think it will be on par with last year's Giant's upset, or am I just spoiled by being a Pats' fan all these years and it's parity and not mediocrity we're witnessing in the AFC? 12:31 What you're witnessing in the AFC is this: Brady's knee injury changed the entire landscape. Manning's injury, to a lesser degree, really has hurt the Colts. If both QBs had been healthy, I don't think there's any question they'd be their old selves. 12:32 [Comment From Knicks85] Rich in your grades you had a great line about Justin Miller this year. Any speculation as to what he could have done to be in the dog house? 12:32 [Comment From Marc E] Where is Justin Miller?! 12:32 [Comment From Jesse] Any news on Justin Miller? Does he figure in to the plans for the secondary at all for the rest of the season? Thanks 12:33 [Comment From Tom] Donde esta Justin Miller? 12:35 I don't understand it, either. I mean, we all know he's erratic and has some concentration lapses, but he's better than Drew Coleman. He'd be active if he did more on special teams, but he got Wally Pipp'ed by Leon as the KOR and Justin doesn't really do much else. Talk about lousy timing for Miller; he's a free agent after the season. 12:36 [Comment From Dermot, Ireland] Rich, what can we expect to see from the gameplan with respect to Favre from here on out? Will it be dink and dunk all the way given last weeks success? 12:38 Dermot, I think Mangini realizes that he has to tighten up the leash on Favre. As long as they can run the ball, and as long as the defense plays well, there's no reason to take crazy chances. It'll be interesting to see how they go after the Rams. The Rams can't stop the run or the pass. 12:39 [Comment From Paul from CT] Ron Jaworski last week suggested that Favre is injured and "hasn't been the same guy" since the bengals game. He also says a few GMs have noticed the same thing. Your thoughts? 12:42 Not to take any bows, but I was the first to write about a possible injury. I know of one personnel executive that noticed a change in Favre's delivery. This guy thinks Favre is throwing too much with his upper body, perhaps compensating for a loss of arm/shoulder power. Favre insists he's fine and, I'll be honest, he looks okay in practice. But, to me, there's no doubt he's not throwing with the same zip as he did early in the season. Then again, he's 39. The wear and tear has to be taking a toll. He's only human. 12:44 [Comment From mikelasvegas] How many plays per game is Favre calling (audibles) as opposed to what Pennington did ? 12:46 If you recall, Pennington ran a lot of no-huddle stuff, especially in '06. In those situations, he'd be given 2 or 3 plays and he'd make the best call at the line. They haven't gotten into much no-huddle with Favre - understandable, considering his lack of familiarity with the offense. In most cases, though, he has the ability to check to a different play. I wish I could give you an exact number, but I can't. 12:47 [Comment From Collette Winfield] I am amazed that few talk about the EFFECT of Brett Favre, as a person and a committed player, on the attitudes and total team cohesiveness of the Jets. Anyone who has watched Brett Favre over the last 16 years should understand that his ability to LIFT players to their God-given potential is his greatest gift as a leader. That has always been the REAL magic of Favre! Can you comment? 12:49 [Comment From Tom] Way to go Collette. Leadership DOES count for alot! 12:49 I agree totally. Too often we get caught up in a QB's arm strength and forget about his intangibles. Leadership is huge, and I can definitely sense in the locker room the overwhelming confidence in Favre. Your question reminds me of a passage in colleague Ralph Vacchiano's book on Eli Manning. In his scouting report on Eli, then-GM Ernie Accorsi makes a reference to Johnny Unitas. Quoting another coach, Accorsi says two things separated Unitas from every other QB: His left testicle and his right testicle. I think that applies to Favre. I love that anecdote, don't you? I'm sure Ralph will appreciate the plug. 12:50 [Comment From IRA] Rich, Good article about Revis today. I feel he is the best CB in the league right now. Were to you rate him? 12:51 Wow, tough question. The guy from Tenn is having a good year. Woodson and Harris are playing well in GB. Champ Bailey is hurt, but he's Champ Bailey. There's Asante Samuel, Ronde Barber ... I'm sure I'm missing some. But you're right, Revis is playing well. I wouldn't call him a shutdown corner, but he's making some big plays. 12:51 [Comment From Brian] How do you think we'll do against the Rams? Last week we managed the game great. You think we can do it again? 12:52 The Jets will beat the Rams. I don't think it will be a blowout. This is a trap game, sandwiched between two big division games, so it's human nature to have a letdown. But the Rams are struggling, especially on defense. They give up 6.3 yards per play, which is horrendous. Jets by a TD. 12:52 [Comment From MT Jets Fan] Mangini spoke the other day about "being late" in certain areas of pass coverage as part of the strategy each week and if you get beat in those areas it is the "cost of doing business". Do you think that the Jets coverage problems this year have been a function of the opposition correctly identifying the weak spots in the coverage or technical breakdowns. I only see the games on TV and we don't get to see the secondary until the ball gets there. 12:55 Great question about the secondary. Yes, I think teams are game planning well against the Jets, finding favorable matchups. But look at it from the Jets' perspective. Last week, they said, "We're not going to let Lee Evans or Roscoe Parrish beat us." And they didn't. They gave up some balls to the TEs, but I think they were willing to take their chances with those guys. You can identify one or two guys every week, guys you want to neutralize. You can't do it for every player, though. 12:55 [Comment From Tom] I respectfully disagree with you on the upcoming game in Tennessee. Tennessee is a very good team and Fisher's done a wonderful job this year but with Collins as starting QB? I believe that the Jets will make a good showing and it will hinge on the performance of the defense. Collins can be rattled. I don't think that the Jets will lay down and play dead when they meet. Your thoughts. 12:55 [Comment From jet fan in fla] how can you say no way to a win against the titans. if this season has taught us anything is that no week is a no brainer in terms of predictions and with jets playing titans after a 10 day layoff it should help the jets. especially considering how they have played following bye weeks 12:56 I'd be stunned if they beat the Titans. 12:56 [Comment From Tom] How are receivers Coles and Cotchery doing? Coles over any concussion issues? 12:58 Concussion-wise, Coles is fine. Cotchery's shoulder is bothering him more than he's letting on. He gets treatment every day, rarely coming into the locker room during the media period. That's very unusual for JCo. 12:58 That's a wrap, folks. Once again, thanks for all the great questions. This was a lot of fun. Check your local listings for next week's chat because the Thursday night game is going to mess with our schedule. Talk to you soon. 12:59 Editor's Note: Thanks for joining us. Keep the chat going in the comments section and we'll see you next week.

They should put their name on the PSL list, they will show the PSL people anything. Even feed them, lol. Which reminds me I still have more pictures to add, DOH. http://www.jetnation.com/photoplog/index.php?c=
