Bartelby?
Haha, excellent! One of my favorite stories ever! The Scrivener of Wall Street!

This was one of the coolest things ever for me. I went to Arrowhead (Melville's homestead) some years ago. Empty, no-one really cared except for the guide and me. Frank Stella was doing something or other there, so the house wasn't completely open. No matter.

Standing in the room where Moby Dick was scripted, it was a holy moment. I sat on the porch where Nathaniel Hawthorne told Melville to write what was in his heart, and that association changed literary history forever. We know who was better; but thus came to us one of the greatest novels ever written in the English language, which may have never been otherwise. Well, I knew all of that before I went there, but the point of the story is that we all meet people for a reason.
