Thank you Veterans

I know Veterans Day is tomorrow, but in my opinion you can never be too early or too late in thanking them.

Today in my classes I had my students write thank you cards to our local vets. I will be delivering them to the VFW post tomorrow.

We also have a math teacher here who served in Vietnam. Each of my classes took a large posterboard and wrote a short note to him and signed it.

So now that I am in the spirit, I want to thank all of you here at JN who served or are currently serving. Your commitment and dedication to our country is something we should never take for granted.

So anyway, thanks!!

haha....that's awesome...

"thank you Vets, for defending our freedoms..now excuse me while I tell someone not to exercise their own"

well..for someone who has a family tradition of military service....from Great-grand-dad on down..

I can certainly appreciate and honor our Vets

Really? :spock:

When did they start wearing blue dress pants?

I have a pair from back in the days myself. It was only worn on special occasions back in my day because it was "dressed greens" as the official dress uniform...the Army has offically gone to dressed blues all the time now.

Thanks for enlightening me, Bill. I had no idea.

No problem Jim...

Picture below is circa June of 1968...we were getting ready to enter the A Shau Valley on a recon mission 101st A/B Div...I'm on the right (50 pounds lighter...LOL) and "Chico". He was only about 5'4...he was KIA about 8 months later....I visited his folks in the South Bronx when I got home...they treated me like gold. I was very appreciative of the love they gave me, but it was a visit that I wished never had to be made.

Thanks. It actually is as much for the kids as it is for the veterans.

Alot of my students only know their very small world around them. Some have never even been out of the county. I wanted to expose them to something much bigger than just here at home. The veterans they are writing to have served all over.

I wasn't sure how the response would be, but I must say that the kids really put a great effort into it. One girl even wrote a 2 page poem, and titled it "To the person I do not know, but the person who loved me enough to serve."

As they were leaving class, one student told me that they had not really thought about it before, and now it would be more than just a day off from school for them.

Great job dude!

Regardless of any individual's thoughts regarding any wars or "conflicts" the bottom line is that many brave individuals risked or lost their lives to preserve our freedoms and to defend the freedoms of others.

Please no politics here!

The brave part is true beyond the shadow of a doubt, though!

Absolutely!! I have nothing but respect and appreciation for anyone who has served or is currently serving. Wars and conflicts come and go, but the bravery and dedication of our armed forces remains the same.

That's beautiful. That's a perfect title. Great thing to do.

Thank you to all Veterans of all wars. I personally would not be cut out to do what you guys have done, and am so thankful that you have endured personal sacrifices for the benefit of us all.

Absolutely Bergen. Thanks for the opening words heelz.

And a big Thank-You to all the Americans who have fought to keep this country the great place it is. Thanks to Bill who fought in the jungles of Viet Nam, thanks to my dad who fought his way up the enemy infested beaches of Iwo Jima with the 3rd Marines, and thanks to my daughter who last Veterans Day was in Iraq with the Army 3rd Infantry.

Thank you all more than I can say.
