joebabyny
You know, I'm wondering if, based on the Pats interest in DeAngelo Hall, the Jets didn't sign Ty Law for the sole purpose of keeping him off the Pats roster. Sort of a pre-emptive strike. well they did lose adelius for the seaon it looks like.
JiFtheOracle
You'll see next year. The reason you've had our number lately is now gone,Fulmer isnt returning. No more Herm ball at UT. jason423
Still trying to make sense of this move because I can't find it. Law has no clue about the system, is old, slow, locker room cancer. People say he'll be a safety, but why should Elam lose his job since he's playing so well now? So what about CB? Lowery has had his issues the last 2 weeks, but Law, who was eating donuts and drinking 40s on his couch as late as yesterday is going to be an upgrade? I'm sniffing some desperation on Mangini's part. Belichick must really own him if Mangini things the roster needs an upgrade to face Matt Cassel. I think its a wasted move as well. Law just has no speed anymore. The only thing I can think of is that the Jets want him to line up on Welker and smack him at the line and then pass him off to someone else. Try and throw off their timing patterns that way. Otherwise I really dont get why you bring this guy in now.

ECURB
My thoughts... (I have not read the thread sorry if this is copying someone... ) I think the JETS have wanted Law all along, and I think Law didnt want to go through the motions, TC, Practice, week after week... he wanted to wait and make sure the few teams that wanted him... KC, NYJ, NE, ect were real contenders... I think that he is convinced now... made the call and signed up... he knows Mangini's style and should be able to step right in, Im sure he has stayed in shape... Dont know if it will be a good move, but I think it has been in the works for 10+ weeks.

ECURB
26 is Marcus Mason's number. Law could wear 22 or 28, but I doubt the Jets will be handing out #28. Hopefully Revis gives his "big brother" or "second dad" his number for the final 7 games, but Ty will probably suit up in the #22 jersey since Chatman is on I.R., it is available. #24 is Revis's Jersey, Law isnt half the CB Revis is right now... he can go **** himself if he wants that #. Green DNA
Ty Law was an overweight, out of shape tub of $hit when he was here a few years ago. How is he going to be better now, especially after sitting on the couch for 9 weeks. Hopefully he is a nickel back at best and I don't want him to take playing time from Elam at safety. Elam is bringin' da pain. I don't like this move, but I hope this lard ass proves me wrong.

GimmeShelter
Exactly. And that was 3 years ago. Those picks he had that year were ridiculously lucky. Law would fall down on his back and the opposing QB would gently plop a pass onto his stomach. He didn't even have to use his hands. Agree. There were also whispers that he was not a good influence on the younger players. Makes very little sense to me but I will be rooting for at least glimpses of his old form. Hopefully Magini is just trying to push Lowery with the move while adding depth. For all we know someone in the secondary is a little more knicked up after Sundays games than we are hearing. villain_the_foe
I hear all these haters about Dwight Lowery but its more than all good. This kid has played phenomenal this year Being a 4th round pick and not even being considered the starter at the time. He's a Film head as well. This year is his rookie year and im hearing stupid ass comments like "Lowery Sucks". How could he suck and he's started every game this year as a rookie. We have Vets on this team that couldnt replace him so thats telling you something about his raw talent. Now as for Ty Law being signed, do you NOT think that this will play to lowery's benefit? He's around one of the best CB's to do it the last 15 years, He's around Revis who is one of the best in the league right now and is a probowler this year no doubt, Lowery's around one of the smartest QB's to ever play the game so he can learn the tendencies of a great QB and will be able to translate that to other QB's and really turn it on agains mediocre QB's. Lowery is in the perfect position for growth. Law is not taking the second spot. Lowery is being picked on because he's a rookie. He may not have any INT's but he sure does other things like strips balls for fumbles and is a sure tackler. He's RARELY out of place on a play, he May get beat on a play given how well a WR runs his route. His hand is in on every play, his footwork is great...and this kid has less than one year under his belt. Yeah, he's gotten beat a couple times this year, but so did the damn saftey. Lowery is best right now when the play is in front of him. Now let Revis and Law continue to teach him some things and you people will begin to swallow your words! Lowery is badass...period. Don't you know that Lowery is the only starting CB in the NFL that has given up completions this year. All of the passing yardage throughout the league has been at the expense of other teams' free safeties. I swear to GOD, many people have no appreciation or understanding of CB talent. They see a couple of completions, a pass interference --- "he sucks". Lowery is going to be a good one. Count on it.
124
Lowery continues to make countless mistakes ever since the Miami opener and if he was playing so well Ty Law would be a Patriot or still on the street. The Jets need Law to come in here and be the starting CB opposite Darrelle Revis for the stretch run. Lowery has played average at best, at best. IDC if he was a 4th rounder if you're starting you better ****ing contribute and recently he hasn't contributed well at all.
lancemehl
who did we cut? didn't we cut law like three years ago? isn't lowery playing great for a rookie? I don't know. we'll see

There are many starting CBs in this league that get beat for a TD about every week or so. How many has Lowery given up this year? Three or four maybe? I know when we watch highlights of other games we watch the receiver scoring the TD and say, "that was nice". But somebody got beat on that play. It is amazing the standards that some of you expect of Jet CB play.

I don't know. we'll see Actually it wasn't a failure, that team was killed by injuries on the offensive side and we had Herm as coach. Law had 10INT's, but that was more do to the pass rush we had. This year we have a top 10 defense so hopefully this only improves us and helps some of the young guys. Although I have much concern like everyone else about him being a cancer, I don't think Magini & Co. would've signed him if he couldn't play, Belicheat wanted him also. Right now I'll reserve judgment, Elam has been playing good but he's very suspect in coverage and adding a savy vet that knows our hated rivals can only be a plus.....again....hopefully.
