AFJF
Nice move IMO The YankeesNew York Yankees declined Damaso Marte's $6-million option for the 2009 season, but it is being reported by Impacto Deportivo (link is in Spanish) that the Bombers have signed the lefty reliever to a three-year, $12-million deal. Marte, who was acquired from the Pirates with Xavier Nady in late July, appeared in 25 games for the Yankees, going 1-3 with a 5.40 ERA
Jbro22
Not a fan of this signing, he didn't do much for us last year. And weren't we getting a draft pick for him?
Bob
I like it. Jbro's right that he didn't light it up, but I think it was an adjustment problem more than a loss of stuff. I think he'll be fine and we need a good lefty reliever. Good job by the Yanks getting his price down from 6M to 4M/yr.
MagicBizkit87
We needed to get Marte back. I know Phil Coke did amazing last year, but can any of you honestly say you trust Coke to get David Ortiz out? With Marte going against Ortiz it won't be that much of a problem for him. DaBrick Wall
I like the move, I just hope it didn't cost them two good players like they got for the future last time they let someone like this go (Tom Gordon).
