Unnamed Jet provides bulletin board material...

Jet: Patriots defense 'old and slow'

One Jets offensive player, who spoke under the condition of anonymity because he didn't want to provide bulletin board fodder for the Patriots, talked about being "sick to our stomachs" about the Jets' 19-10 loss in Week 2 at the Meadowlands. He felt the Patriots were vulnerable - particularly on defense. Not to mention it was the first game with Matt Cassel at quarterback, after Tom Brady was injured in Week 1 vs. the Chiefs. The player spoke matter-of-factly about how "slow" and "old" a number of the New England defenders are and how he believes the Jets should be able to put up "a lot of points" on them tonight. It does.

Even with the extra motivation for the Pats, the Jets should still win this game. And win it by at least 10 points.

Part of me really believes this. It's a quiet, deep down part, but I really believe that we can win this game convincingly.

I think we can lose a close one too, but I don't know. I guess maybe I'm starting to believe.

If ...

Jets play well;

Pats play well;

Mangini coaches well; and

Belichick coaches well;

The Jets should win the game 27-17 or there abouts.

Good.

I'm tired of this team playing scared against the Patriots. For years the Jets have fielded a team who looked like they knew they couldn't match up to the Patriots, but would hope they could possibly steal one. The fact is that for the first time in a long time I can say with confidence that I know this Jets team IS better than the Patriots. Its just up to the Jets players and coaches to realize it, and executive as such. It looks like they're half way there.

I'm sure it's been said countless times, but "bulletin board material" is the biggest bull**** ever. If teams need any extra motivation to win a game, they shouldn't be playing in the NFL.

Belichick has used it for motivation his entire tenure in NE.

Nice job by the coward Jets player. Just like his HC. No cajones.

Ah, they actually listen to the sh*t espn spews. The Pats defense is slow - pretty much. However, they aren't old. I don't get the "old" part. Aside from Bruschi - and maybe Vrable (30) - who is old? Seriously, who?

^^OWNED!

BTW, just shut up and play the game. Talk all the sh#t you want after we win.

I used to think it was worse to talk before a game, but now I think it is worse to talk after a game. It's pretty cowardly to talk aferwards, at least when you talk before you put yourself on the line. That's why we respected Joe Willie's guarantee so much, he put himself on the line.

But there's also a difference to responding to others and talking for no reason. Namath was responding to the trash talk of other players, and most people that talk afterwards are people who said nothing when the other person was running their mouth beforehand.

I personally don't like talking, either myself or when someone else does it. People should just shut up and play the game....period.

Does that mean teams don't suffer letdowns, also?

Joe Namath and the rest of the '69 Jets LIED to us when they said they felt slighted by the football world and being an underdog did not inspire them?

Are you insinuating emotion doesn't have a factor in games?

I don't buy what you are selling

Remember Joey Porters comments about Matt Cassell got the Pats motivated enough to destroy the Dolphins?

No? Me neither.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the billboard stuff...but, using the dolphins as a reference doesn't cut it. Fins seem to play the Pats better than we do...Patsies aren't in the dolfags heads as they seem to be with us.

That said...beat the living **** out of the Patsies tonight.

bulletin board material just gives players something to jaw about in between plays, I feel it rarely actually affects the game

the fact that this was said anonymously means the pats don't even know who to be mad at, so it is really much ado about nothing

They talk about this in between plays?

Maybe they will take their frustrations out on Ghoulston, because right now, he is the most anonymous player the Jets have.
