Jetsrockmyworld
That guy played like a HOFer tonight. Someone is going to give him big money, why not us. We'll have our own Brady. Plus he knows the Pats as much as anyone.
Maxman
Pretty sure he won't make the Hall Of Fame without completing 20+ yard passes. He played great. The coaching staff is amazing. They just spread it out, they protect him well with that line and he picks you apart underneath. It is a very smart approach and he played an incredible game. That last pass was just amazing. Definitely have to do a better job of stopping him from running. He killed them with his legs as well.

Jets Voice of Reason
No thanks. Don't get fooled by the statline, he's an above average QB but not a franchise caliber QB that you throw big money at. He's accurate underneath, and he's mobile. But he's absolutely terrible at any throw above 20 yards. He's worse than Chad Pennington in that regard. He's the kind of guy you need a lot of talent around him to succeed. I give him credit for that last drive, but I also condemn the Jets for absolutely letting it happen. The Prevent defense was the absolute DUMBEST call the Jets could have possibly made. It played straight into Cassel's strength by opening up in the underneath routes and he looked like HOF QB in that drive solely for that reason. IF he's forced against a normal defense, he would be terrible in a 2-minute drill.

Trust me, he'll be the next great QB, plus he knows the Pats system. It's largely because of us that he looked all-world. Our weakness= Cassel's strength. We have crap for secondary depth and linebackers who have trouble in coverage. So what do they do to exploit it? Pats run a spread offense, throw constantly to Watson (ON THE SAME OUTSIDE ROUTE I MIGHT ADD)
RSJ
Cassell is a system QB like Brady was in his first year. Idk if I would spend free agent type money on him.
SMC
Disagree strongly. As Max mentioned, Cassel can't complete a deep pass and his TD: redzone ratio is horrible (despite the TD to Moss). He's a good scrambler with a weak arm. He benefits from that great WR group. Plus, his play tonight had more to do with the Jets gameplan (as Mangini mentioned) than anything else. This is a guy with NFL-level potential and now experience who is essentially a rookie QB. Those deep balls will coem. Unlike Penny, who played all his college years plus several as an NFL QB. Jets Voice of Reason
Brett Ratliff > Cassel BTW Apples and oranges. I liked what I saw from Ratliff, but one has starts in the NFL and the other doesn't. It's nice that Ratliff can beat a vanilla coverage scheme with little blitzing, but that doesn't really tell you much about his ability to start. Jets Voice of Reason
Cassel beat Vanilla coverage today. Which I agree with... I never made the claim that Cassel is some good QB out there. But that still doesn't change the fact that you can't compare a guy with Starts in the NFL to a guy who hasn't.

Cassel is a good scrambler with a below NFL arm playing with the best receiving group in the NFL. He also played against vanilla coverage today that put no pressure on him. That said, there will be a team stupid enough to throw big money at Cassel and they will regret it.

SMC
So playing for the division lead, the Jets played vanilla. You are a complete douche. That's funny because Mangini must be a douche. He said it in his press conference that the plan was not to worry about the yardage but to keep the Pats out of the endzone. In other words, it was a vanilla defense with no pressure built around the plan of let Cassel have to march up and down the field to score points rather than take the chance of a big play. If you don't see the difference between the scheme the Jets used defensively last week and this week, there is nothing that could be done to help you. Broke tons of tackles? Seriously, what game were you watching because it was a completely different game than the rest of us. Do you know why he ran for 60 yards? The Pats had the RB pull Barton away from the middle which left it wide open for Cassel to run if he had to and he did. He was never touched on his big runs. If that's the case, why didn't we do this in Week 2 when Cassel was making his first start. Either Cassel is really good or we have problems upcoming, if we are just willing to let QBs tear us apart from the inside out.
