Jets defense last night...question

NIGHT STALKER

Recommended Posts

Not complaining about the win, so let's get that out of the way. My question is, how do you allow a QB who previously threw for 7 total TD's before last night and he throws 3? Plus, how does our pass defense allow all those passing yards...the kid had a career night...good thing we won.

So, where the hell was our pass defense? Some of those passes were completed because he had all night to throw. Why didn't we safety blitz this kid? No way he has a career night if we popped him a few times.

It was strange. The gameplan appeared don't let Moss beat us deep although Cassel's stats over 20 yds coming in were horrific. The plan was still ok until they changed to hurry up which neutrilized Jenkins AND any pass rush we had up to that point.

Cassell scrambled out of a lot of sacks and 2 and a 1/2 qtrs of hurry up shotgun offense will wear out any pass rush.

fear of moss

Agreed on this, the Pats have outstanding WRs it is a little hard to get after a QB that throws the ball five and ten yards down the field.

If you remember from the first game we tried that at the beginning of the game, and he would throw to the check down. Then they would gain 15 to 20 yards after the catch.

N excuses, if the dolphags can do it with a lesser D tahn we should have been able to do it. Makes you wonder if our cs watch film on how other teams that have beaten NE.

Collinsworth (Who I thought did a great job last night) kept saying that the Jets were doubling both Moss and Welker.

So that is four guys right there covering two guys.

4 were rushing the passer, leaving single coverage on Watson, Faulk and Gaffney.

When you don't get to the QB, sooner or later he is going find that single coverage or he is going take off and run up the middle cause Faulk was getting Barton out of the middle by going to the right flank.

Mangini fears Moss and Welker probably more than anybody in the NFL. The scary thing is the Jets did a great job playing Moss tight and on the TD that tied the game they played loose on him basically giving him a free release.

Strange

We had Pace in coverage all last night, which obviously did not work. That killed us. Revis didn't have a particularly good game either to be honest.

LOL, yeah I think it's fair to say you lack any credibility whatsoever when it comes to talking about Revis. He played one hell of a game. Whenever he was matched up with Welker, he shut him down, whenever he wasn't they always went to him.

i'll tell you how. cause we hardly rushed the qb at all last night. i'm no nfl qb, but if you give me all that time in the pocket i can find an open receiver also. you simply DO NOT give a qb that sort of comfort level in the pocket. it was an atrocious defensive gameplan capped off by that horrible prevent defense they went into tho let the pats march down the field and score with no TO's and only 1:15 left. it was a joke, and we were lucky to win. mangini continues to prove that he just flat out sucks as a head coach.
