JonEJet
Vilma is 6'1, 230 Mayo is 6'1, 240 Similar players Seeing Mayo last night made me realize that Vilma COULD have done well in the 3-4......if he had Big Jenks taking up the center Mayo could run all over the place with Wilfat in there

Irish Jet
You are aware 10lbs is a good bit bigger? He plays a lot bigger than Vilma too IMO.

SMC
You are aware 10lbs is a good bit bigger? He plays a lot bigger than Vilma too IMO. 10 lbs is a big difference for a LB. Plus, Mayo could still put on another 5 to 10 lbs by maturation and still have his ability. That said, lets be honest here. The reason why Mayo is running around like a madman making plays is because the Pats other LBs are slower than ****.

He sure looks more like 20 something pounds heavier than Vilma. He had a monster game last nite.
Sperm Edwards
Vilma doesn't hit anywhere near that hard. He kind of wraps guys up & they go at least an extra 2 yards. They're just different. Like all the short passes last night. Pennington is more than capable of throwing those right on the money, but his windup is slower & they have a lot less velocity. That 3rd & 15 to Keller doesn't happen as a result; it barely happened as it did with Favre. Just saying they're both accurate doesn't mean their passes are the same or the result would be identical. Same thing with Mayo/Vilma. They're just different types of hitters, each doing what is best-suited to their physical skills. Frankly, Vilma got pushed out of the way quite a bit by the lead blocker, "only" 10 lbs different or not. Not everyone who runs the 40 in the same time plays at the same speed either. The game isn't played at the scouting combine in shorts.
will
Harris is just as good as Mayo. In run defense, yes, but Mayo plays much better in space. Its an issue for the Jets that Belicheck exploited last night. The Jets could use more speed on defense.
